Tour of Sri Ramanasramam - Photos 13 & 14
These photographs show the statue of Bhagavan and the stone couch made for Him to sit on inside the New Hall. Bhagavan did not like this place but moved there under pressure.
Bhagavan spent only a few months in this hall before moving to the small bathroom across from it, which later became the Nirvana Room.
This Hall, built of granite is normally the coolest place in the ashram, and many devotees choose to sit here and meditate. The entrance to the Mother's shrine is to the left.
The second picture shows a close-up of the stone couch inside the New Hall and the stone statue of Bhagavan.
The couch is carved from a single piece of stone and is polished until it turns black. This is a remarkable piece of craftmanship and the photograph does not do justice to the skill of the mason.
