Tour of Sri Ramanasramam - Photos 5 & 6
This photograph was taken from inside the main gate leading into Sri Ramanasramam. The Peepul tree to the right is said to be more than 100 years old and directly behind it are the offices and the book-depot.
The Book-Depot sells all of the Ashram books, publications, cassette and video tapes, plus photographs and prints of Bhagavan in black and white and simulated colour. The Books are available primarily in English and Tamil, but there are also a number of books in Russian, Japanese, French, German and other European languages, plus Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and other Indian dialects.
The building to the left is the 'New Hall' and Sri Mathrubhuteshwara Temple [the Samadhi of Bhagavan's Mother], completed in 1948. Access to the Temple is through the 'New Hall' where Bhagavan spent the final healthy months of His life, before moving to the small bathroom opposite, later to be known as the 'Nirvana' room.
Directly behind the temple is Sri Bhagavan's Samadhi and the meditation hall constructed around it. Doors connect both the Main Hall and the New Hall to Sri Mathrubhuteshwara.
