Dear kde,

Yes. Please visit and stay there atleast for a week.  The Asramam
allows Westerners and NRIs who come from far off places to stay
for one week.  December is the right time, when the heat in Tiruvannamalai is least bothersome.

Dear kde,

You can seek extension, say, two days before the end of the first
week.  They may provide, if the demand is not there.

One can always find a teacher; But a Guru has to find and accept you. Bhagavan Ramana  is a phenomenon who draws ripe souls fit for the path of knowledge-Gnana Margam. When, some devotees were asked to write an article
entitled "How I came to Bhagavan".Many responded by saying the title should be changed to "How Bhagavan came to Me". Then you are caught in his Tiger's jaw and slowly you are consumed. Being one among such numerous victims, I consider that greatness of Ramana lies in his role as a Man Eater.

Dear arcsekhar,

Yes.  Sri Bhagavan calls and finally chooses too.

Sri Bhagavan says in {Muruganar's Padamalai, Verse 450}:

I myself will command and actuate a mind that had died by the
sacrifice of the ego.

Dear Subramanian ji,

After sacrificying the ego, it becomes  dead ego (sudha manas.) Is not it? For them all this Maya will be Suddha Maya?
Death of the ego is the real death. Those who die without died ego, their death is not a real death.
Therefore after the death of ego also, people can live in this world. That is why in tamil they say SETHTHARAIPPOL THIRI.
Bhagavan lived in such a state.

Dear Ramanaduli,

Yes.  For a Jnani whose ego had died, is a Jivan Mukta.  What is mukti?  Sri Bhagavan says in His last answer in Who am I?:  One
should enquire within as to who is he, and then stay in the Real
Swarupam.  That is mukti.  Mukti is not there somewhere outside.

Regarding other people, when they die, the mind carries with it,
the prana and leaves.  They get rebirth.  For a Jnani since the mind
is dead, the prana finally withdraws into the Heart, when they leave
the body.  This Videha Kaivalyam or Maha Nirvanam.
