"The Bible itself says, "the kingdom of
God is within you."
If you consider yourself to be the body,
there is some difficulty in understanding
this statement.
On the other hand,
if you know who you really are,
the Kingdom of Heaven and all
are included;
in your true Self."

"By association with Sages comes non-attachment,
from non-attachment comes freedom from desire;
from desirelessness comes mental stillness,
from mental stillness comes freedom from the ego."

"Your very being is bliss.
....that means one remains in the primal
uncontaminated state in sleep.
As for sorrow, there is none.

Your nature is happiness.
You say that is not apparent.
See what obstructs you from your true Being."

"When you contemplate, the other
thoughts disappear. So long as you
need to contemplate, there are other
thoughts. WHERE ARE YOU?

You should merge yourself into
the Source. What is contemplation?
It is to merge into the source
consciously. Then the fear of
death will disappear, because
you are able to merge into the
source consciously.

Why fear death?
Death cannot mean non-being.
And the consciousness is beyond
relative consciousness or uncon-
sciousness."

"Why do you wish to meditate at all? Since you wish to do so,
you are told, 'fixing the mind in the Self'. Why do you not
remain as you are without meditating? What is that mind?
When all thoughts are eliminated, it becomes fixed in the Self."

"Self inquiry leads to realization by
removing the obstacles which make
you think that the Self is not already
realized."


"I do not ask anyone to come, nor ask
him to go. Everyone pleases himself here.
He says he finds peace in the Hall and he
also wants a job. Evidently, the job must
be found in the Hall itself so that his peace
may not be disturbed.
Peace is not in the Hall.
It is in the repose of the Self,
It can be gained anywhere."

"Karma has its fruits. They are
like cause and effect. The inter-
relation of a cause and its effect
is due to a power whom we call God.


Oblivion and memory are only thought
forms. They will alternate so long as

Find out who does not realize
and what he does not realize.
Then it will be clear;
there is no ignorance."

"You are the Self.
The Self is eternally realized.
Otherwise, there will be no pleasure in it.
If it is not eternal,
it must have a beginning;
what begins will also end,
so it is only transient.
There is no use seeking for a temporary state of affairs.
The fact is, that it is the state of effort-less,
ever alert Peace.
Effortlessness while remaining aware is the state of Bliss;
and THAT is the state of REALIZATION.

Dear prasanth,

Yes.

The Sage or the Guru's Grace is the most essential aspect.  Attachment and desires resulting in misery stem from the ego
and the ego less state is possible only with the grace of Guru.
apart from our own efforts.  This final touch, the grace is called
Sakti Nipadam. 

In Letters from Sri Ramansramam, dated 18th May 1947, Bhagavan
Ramana says:

....You were existent in the wakeful state as well as in the dream
state and also in the sleeping state.  When you are able to understand your state which had been existent all the time, you
will then understand that all the rest is like a dream.  When that
is known, the feeling that the Guru is different from you will disappear.  But then, since this realization must come about because of Guru Kataksham, that Guru Kataksham, is likened to
a dream of a lion [by an elephant].  That dream must be intense
and must imprint itself in one's mind.  It is only then "a proper wakefulness" will come about.  For that, the time must be propitious.  If sadhana is performed relentlessly, sometime or other, favourable results will turn up.  That is all.

Muruganar reflects the same idea in his Guru Vachaka Kovai, Verse
283: 

Through the Guru appearing in the waking state [of a sadhaka] -
which is actually a dream that originates in the sleep of ignorance, - the sadhaka will lose the shrouding ignorance and attain Jnana.
The validating analogy for this is:  When the elephant sees a lion
in its dream, - which originates in sleep - the elephant's sleep ends and it wakes up.

The analogy is taken from Ozhivil Odukkam of KaNNudaiya VaLLalar.  The  Verse 2 of this book says:

If the Sadguru did not cast his glance upon him, bringing him to
absolute stillness, free of all distress, just as a majestic lion appears in the dream of a rutting elephant, stopping it in its tracks,
by the study of what [subjects] may he accomplish the loss of
the ego-self?
