Wealth unsought
« on: October 20, 2009, 11:47:47 AM »
Bhagavan Ramana says in Verse 49 of Sri Arunachala Akshara
Mana Malai that the Self is had by anyone without asking.
The Self is ever there, it cannot be lost, it cannot be stolen,
it cannot be taken away by one else.  What prevents one from
realizing this Self is once one delusion in life, the ego's activity,
which hides the Self.

Wealth benignant, holy grace came to me unsought end my
mind's despondency, O Arunachala.

OR

Wealth benignant, holy grace that came to me unsought, dispel my mind's bewilderment, O Arunachala.

                    - Verse 49, Tr. Prof. K. Swaminathan

Sri Rama Tirtha told this story:

There was a man who was distributing sweets in the temple.
People curious, asked him, what was the occasion?  He replied: My Car has been stolen.  The people, becoming more astonished,
asked him: How come, you distribute sweets for the car's loss?  The gentleman replied:  "Yes, Because I am not lost!"

Only the Self within us can never be stolen.  It appears stolen
due to our delusions.  Realization of Truth is really a profit.
Suka Maharshi says in Srimad Bhagavatam:  Nija Labha drishti.  The seeing of our real profit in this birth.

In a meditation class, a discourser said:  "Now lights will be off.  You all close your eyes and meditate for a while!"  The lights
were switched off, many minutes passed.  There was no noise at all.  The discourser opened his eyes and found that every one else had left quietly, perhaps bored with this meditation crap. The discourser became very happy.  "Atleast, I am not lost in the darkness!"

This is Thedathu Utra Tiru AruL Nidhi... the Wealth benignant, unsought and the grace of Guru makes us realize this.

Arunachala Siva.
