Navaratri (Dasara) Celebrations in the Asramam
« on: September 26, 2009, 01:19:17 PM »
On Day 7, Friday (Saptami), the Asramam had adorned Devi
as a flute-player, Venu ganam.  There is a cow besides the
image of Mother, while she is playing flute.  The video runs for
about 3 minutes.

Krishna has usually the flute as his musical instrument.  Siva,
Uma and Saraswathi are seen in pictures,.as playing Veena.
Siva playing Veena is called  Sri Veena Dakshinamurthy.

But Sri Devi Bhagavatam, picturizes Devi as Krishna also.
She is called Goapala Sundari.  She is having a flute on her
hand. The cows get attracted by her flute music and come near
her. She is also called Narayani.

Sri Lalita Sahasranamam says:   Narayani Nada rupa, nama
rupa vivarjita (70)

She is Narayani, in the form of sound, but she transcends the
name and form!

Sri Lalita Sahasranamam also says in holy name 994:

Om aabala gopa viditaayai Namah:

Salutations to Her who can be realized by all, even by a child
or a cowherd.

Mother comes in the form of a Cowherdess to confer liberation
for the cowherds too.

Arunachala Siva.
