Navaratri (Dasara) Celberations in the Asramam
« on: September 23, 2009, 12:06:32 PM »
On Day 4, that is on Tuesday,  Devi was adorned as if she
was in a Linga Puja, the worship of Siva in the form of Lingam.
There is a 3 minute video clipping on this.

The story is again from Kanchipuranam, where Devi as Kamakshi
did penance.  In that time, she made a Lingam from out of sands
from river bed and did puja with flowers freshly plucked from the
trees on the river bank.  This river is called Kamba river.  While
doing such puja, on one of the days, there were sudden floods
in the river and the Lingam, was about to be wetted and destroyed by flood waters.  Kamakshi immedately protected the Lingam by
hugging it with her breasts and hands.  The Siva, Ekambaram,
in the temple of Kanchipuram, it is made of sand only, hence
there are no abulations with water and milk, bears the marks
of breasts and bangles of Kamakshi.

Siva is called Ekambara Natha, because he has no dress excepting
the single dress of Space, marked by eight directions of the Space.  Mother is called Kamakshi, which means having eyes full of love.
Kanchipuram is one of the 7 centres of liberation, Mokshapuris.

Arunachala Siva.
