Tiru Jnana Sambandhar - 2 (One of the 63 Siva Saints)
« on: January 15, 2009, 10:35:07 AM »
In a few days' time, Sambandhar told his father about his eagerness to visit the Siva temple of Tiruk Kolakka, which was nearby.  His father keeping him on the shoulders took him to that place.  There Sambandhar sang heart melting songs on Siva, clapping his hands for the rhythm.
The Lord saw the child clapping his hands gave him a pair of golden
symbols where the Panchakshara was inscribed!  Sivapada Hrudayar
melted in tears by the gift of Siva to his son.  They returned to Seerkazhi and Sambandhar started singing further decads on Siva of Seerkazhi.

The father and the son pair then went to Tirunannipalli and Tiruchaikadu,
Mahendrapalli, Karuhavoor, and Tirumullai Vayil.  On coming back to
Seerkazhi, they found Tiruneelakanta Yazhpanar, the famous yazh player was waiting for them!  The yazh player submitted his wish to accompany Sambandhar to various places, playing the violin to his songs.

Sambandhar then desired to go to Chidambaram, Thillai to see the Dancing God of the Golden Court. Sambandhar there in Chidambaram sang mnay decads in adoration of Siva and the 3000 Brahmin priests of
Chidambaram, who are the first group of Siva servitors.  He then went to
Tirukazhipalai and Tiruvacchi.   After this, Yazhpanar requested Sambandhar to visit his own native place, Erukkatham Puliyur, to which place the child saint went and sang songs on Siva.   They then went to
Mudukunram, (the present day Vriddachalam) and Maranpadi.  The child became tired walking such great distances and spent overnight in Maranpadi.  There, Siva appeared in the dream of devotees in Aratturai, a nearby village to arrange for golden palanquin and a silver umbrella for his son!  When next morning Sambandhar went to Aratturai, the people
there described the dream and gited palanquin and umbrella to the child saint!  Sambandha sang some melodious songs on Siva of Aratturai and accepted the gifts of Siva. Sitting on the palanquin and accompanied by the devotees, he then went to Pazhuvoor, Seynjalur, Omampuliyur, Tirupanandal, Putthur, Kadambai, Naraiyur, and Karupariyaloor and then returned to Seerkazhi.  By this time, he was five years old and Sivapada
Hrudayar wanted to conduct his son's sacred thread ceremony.  The investiture ceremony was accordingly celebrated with all rituals and good feast to all the guests.
