Frequently Asked Questions of Life

I.S. Mudugula, then discusses certain other aspects like, money,
scholarship and death.

Question No.2: Is not money important?

You need money and you either have it or don't have it don't have
enough of it, whatever "enough" might mean.  Money of course,
is important, being #2 on the list of four purusharthas.  It buys
us food and clothing and a few other things that we need to live
in this world. Also, we can discharge family obligations and help
the needy. In all this, the most important thing is to remember that
the money is not evil in itself, but can be, if it is used for evil purposes.
Used for noble causes, it is certainly a good stepping stone to enlightenement, through eschewing of possessiveness.  The trick
is to look upon you wealth as a treasurer or a trustee looks upon
the vast sums of money that pass through his hands daily, say in a bank.
He makes no claim to any of it being just its responsible custodian.
