Kavyakanta Ganapati Sastri
« on: January 04, 2009, 12:14:59 PM »
If one reads the lives of Bhagavan Ramana and Kavyakanta Ganaptati
Sastri, one cannot but marvel at the dissimilarity between them, even
though the latter called the former as his Guru and younger brother,
Subramanya.  Bhagavan Ramana never went out of Tiruvannamalai
after He reached that place and reported His arrival to Lord Arunachaleswara. But Kavyakanta Ganapati Sastri visited more than
30 places all over India, either for his penance or for his recuperation
or for attending Congress meetings!  Bhagavan Ramana was more like
Ganapati, Siva's elder son, who went around only Siva and Parvati and
claimed the mango fruit!  Kavyakanta Ganapati was more like Skanda,
who went around the whole world, to claim the mango fruit.
Thus Skanda was Ganapati and Ganapati was Skanda, during the last century!

Bhagavan Ramana did not have any learning background.  All He
read in Tiruvannamalai was only for the sake of His devotees.  He
wrote His work, the total of which would be only around 300 pages.
Kavyakanta had a prolific background of learning and scholarship.
He authored many many books.  I shall give the names of his works
in a separate post.  He lisped in "numbers" and numbers came to him!
Further he was also proficient in Ayurveda, Astrology and Vedic mathematics.  Bhagavan Ramana was an Ajata Vadi, in case you
want to brand Him with any label.  Kavyakanta Ganapati Sastri
was a Sakta.

Arunachala Siva.
