Verse  9:


நெடியானொடு நான்முக னும்மறி வொண்ணாப்
படியான்பலி கொள்ளு மிடங்குடி யில்லை
கொடியார்பலர் வேடர்கள் வாழுங் கரைமேல்
அடிகேள்அன்ப தாய்இடங் கோயில்கொண் டாயே.

Siva whose nature body cannot be known by Vishnu who is tall and Brahma of four faces!  There are no inhabitants in the place in which you intend to receive alms.
My god!  You had your abode with love on the seashore where many cruel hunters live. What is the reason?

Verse  10:


பாரூர்மலி சூழ்மறைக் காடதன் தென்பால்
ஏரார்பொழில் சூழ்தரு கோடிக் குழகை
ஆரூரன் உரைத்தன பத்திவை வல்லார்
சீரூர்சிவ லோகத் திருப்பவர் தாமே.


Those who are able to recite these ten verses composed by Arūraṉ on the youth in Kōṭi surrounded by beautiful gardens and situated to the south of Maṟaikkāṭu where the joy of the places in this world is found, will certainly dwell in Sivalōkam whose fame has spread everywhere.

General Padigam:

Verse 1:

பாறு தாங்கிய காட ரோபடு
    தலைய ரோமலைப் பாவையோர்
கூறு தாங்கிய குழக ரோகுழைக்
    காத ரோகுறுங் கோட்டிள
ஏறு தாங்கிய கொடிய ரோசுடு
    பொடிய ரோஇலங் கும்பிறை
ஆறு தாங்கிய சடைய ரோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய அடிகளே.

Devotees!  The god who is God to us.  Does he live in the cremation ground which supports kites?  Does he hold in his hand a dead skull?  Is he the youth who carries as one half the beautiful daughter of the mountain? Does he wear on one ear a men's ear-ring?  Has he a flag on which is drawn a young bull with short horns?  Does he smear the sacred ash well burnt? Does he bear on his head a shining crescent moon and a river?

Verse  2:

இட்டி தாகவந் துரைமி னோநுமக்
    கிசையு மாநினைந் தேத்துவீர்
கட்டி வாழ்வது நாக மோசடை
    மேலும் நாறுக ரந்தையோ
பட்டி ஏறுகந் தேற ரோபடு
    வெண்ட லைப்பலி கொண்டுவந்
தட்டி யாளவுங் கிற்ப ரோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய அடிகளே.


Devotees who praise Siva according to your ability, thinking of him!
Come near me and tell me.  See 1st verse.  Is it a cobra that your master ties on the neck, hands and waist?  Is it Indian globe thistle that he has on his matted locks also?
Does he ride with joy on a bull that is straying. Has he the strength to serve the alms that he receives in the dead white skull and to admit us into his grace?

Verse 3:


ஒன்றி னீர்கள்வந் துரைமி னோநுமக்
    கிசையு மாநினைந் தேத்துவீர்
குன்றி போல்வதோர் உருவ ரோகுறிப்
    பாகி நீறுகொண் டணிவரோ
இன்றி யேஇல ராவரோ அன்றி
    உடைய ராய்இல ராவரோ
அன்றி யேமிக அறவ ரோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய அடிகளே.

See 2nd verse.
You come with a single mind and tell me coming near. See 1st verse.
Has he the color of the red seed of the crab's eye?
(The red portion of the crab's eye is the point of similarity.)
Does he smear sacred ash with an aim?
Does he beg without having anything to fall back upon?
Or otherwise, does he beg having everything as his?
Or does he take upon himself renunciation?

Verse 4:

தேனை யாடுமுக் கண்ண ரோமிகச்
    செய்ய ரோவெள்ளை நீற்றரோ
பானெய் யாடலும் பயில்வ ரோதமைப்
    பற்றி னார்கட்கு நல்லரோ
மானை மேவிய கண்ணி னாள்மலை
    மங்கை நங்கையை அஞ்சவோர்
ஆனை ஈருரி போர்ப்ப ரோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய வடிகளே.

See 1st verse.
Devotees, does Siva of three eyes bathe in honey?
Is he very red in color?
Does he smear on his body white sacred ash?
Does he bathe often in milk and ghee?
Is he a good companion to those who have him as their support?
Does he cover himself with the skin of an elephant wet with blood, the frighten the lady of distinction, the daughter of the mountain, in whose looks are like those of the deer?

Verse 5:


கோணன் மாமதி சூட ரோகொடு
    கொட்டி காலொர் கழலரோ
வீணை தான்அவர் கருவி யோவிடை
    யேறு வேதமு தல்வரோ
நாண தாகவொர் நாகங் கொண்டரைக்
    கார்ப்ப ரோநல மார்தர
ஆணை யாகநம் மடிக ளோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய வடிகளே.

See 1st verse.
Devotees!
Does he wear a great and curved crescent moon?
Does he perform the dance, Koṭukoṭṭi?
Does he wear on one leg an ornament, anklet?
Vīṇai his musical instrument?
Does he ride on a bull ?
Is he the origin of the Vedas?
Does he tie round his waist as a waist-cord a cobra!
Will he admit us into his grace to fill us with good things?
Devotees who praise Siva according to your ability, meditating on him!
Please come and tell me, the ignorant.

Verse 6:


வந்து சொல்லுமின் மூட னேனுக்கு
    வல்ல வாநினைந் தேத்துவீர்
வந்த சாயினை யறிவ ரோதம்மை
    வாழ்த்தி னார்கட்கு நல்லரோ
புந்தி யாலுரை கொள்வ ரோஅன்றிப்
    பொய்யின் மெய்யுரைத் தாள்வரோ
அன்றி யேமிக அறிவ ரோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய வடிகளே.


See 1st verse.
Will he know the weariness that comes to us?
Does he do good to those who sing songs of benediction?
Does he not accept words spoken with intention?
If not, will he admit us as his protege, by speaking truth unadulterated with falsehood?
If he is not that, is he the embodiment of all virtues?
Devotees who are our relations and capable of praising the Lord with utmost meditation on him!
What is the truth you have understood about him?
Please tell me, the ignorant

மெய்யென் சொல்லுமின் நமரங் காள்நுமக்
    கிசையு மாநினைந் தேத்துவீர்
கையிற் சூலம துடைய ரோகரி
    காட ரோகறைக் கண்டரோ
வெய்ய பாம்பரை யார்ப்ப ரோவிடை
    யேற ரோகடை தோறுஞ்சென்
றையங் கொள்ளுமவ் வடிக ளோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய வடிகளே.

See 1st verse.
Does he hold a trident in his hand?
Does he live in the scorched cremation ground?
Hes he a black neck?
Does he tie a cruel cobra round his waist?
Does he ride on a bull?
Is he such a god without attachment and does he receive alms going to every entrance of houses?

Verse  8:


நீடு வாழ்பதி யுடைய ரோஅயன்
    நெடிய மாலுக்கும் நெடியரோ
பாடு வாரையும் உடைய ரோதமைப்
    பற்றி னார்கட்கு நல்லரோ
காடு தான் அரங் காக வேகைகள்
    எட்டி னோடில யம்பட
ஆடு வாரெனப் படுவ ரோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய வடிகளே.

See 1st verse.
Devotees!
Has he the world always as his abode, where he dwells without any change?
Is he greater than Brahma and the tall Vishnu?
Does he have people who sing his praises and who are protected by him?
Does he do good to those who hold him as their support?
Is he spoken eminently as one who dances to the measure of time, making suggestions by his eight hands, and dances, having the cremation ground as his stage?

Verse  9:

நமண நந்தியுங் கரும வீரனுந்
    தரும சேனனு மென்றிவர்
குமணன் மாமலைக் குன்று போல்நின்று
    தங்கள் கூறையொன் றின்றியே
ஞமண ஞாஞண ஞாண ஞோணமென்
    றோதி யாரையு நாணிலா
அமண ராற்பழிப் புடைய ரோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய வடிகளே.

See 1st verse.
Standing as the hills by the side of the big mountain and issuing foul smell without the slightest dress, being naked uttering the words Namaṇam, Nā?aṇam, Nāṇam and Nōṇam, (These are the mantras chanted by Jains.)
Without feeling shame the slightest in the presence of any one.
Namaṇananti, Karumavīraṉ, is our Lord the object of contempt by such Jains as Tarumacēṉaṉ also?

Verse  10:


படிசெய் நீர்மையிற் பத்தர் காள்பணிந்
    தேத்தி னேன்பணி யீரருள்
வடியி லான்திரு நாவ லூரன்
    வனப்பகை யப்பன் வன்றொண்டன்
செடிய னாகிலுந் தீய னாகிலுந்
    தம்மை யேமனஞ் சிந்திக்கும்
அடிய னூரனை யாள்வ ரோநமக்
    கடிக ளாகிய வடிகளே.


Devotees!
I praised you, submitting my homage.
imitating the actions of sincere devotees.
I having no perfection.
a native of Tirunāvalūr,
the father of Vaṉappakai.
with the title of Vaṉthoṇtaṉ.
Although I may be a sinner.
and a wicked person.
See 1st verse.
will he admit Arūraṉ who is his slave and always meditates on him only?
Please tell me about the nature of his grace.

Verse 1:

தம்மை யேபுகழ்ந் திச்சை பேசினுஞ்
    சார்கி னுந்தொண்டர் தருகிலாப்
பொய்ம்மை யாளரைப் பாடா தேயெந்தை
    புகலூர் பாடுமின் புலவீர்காள்
இம்மை யேதருஞ் சோறுங் கூறையும்
    ஏத்த லாம்இடர் கெடலுமாம்
அம்மை யேசிவ லோகம் ஆள்வதற்
    கியாதும் ஐயுற வில்லையே.


Poets!
though you speak flattering words praising them,
and though you are always by their side,
without praising the hypocrites who are a bundle of lies and who are slaves to worldly pleasures,
praise the greatness of Pukalūr of our father.
He will supply you in this birth itself plenty of food and clothing.
You can increase your fame.
The perishing of sufferings will also take place.
There is not the slightest doubt to rule in Sivalōkam after death.

மிடுக்கி லாதானை வீம னேவிறல்
    விசய னேவில்லுக் கிவனென்று
கொடுக்கி லாதானைப் பாரி யேயென்று
    கூறி னுங்கொடுப் பாரிலை
பொடிக்கொள் மேனியெம் புண்ணி யன்புக
    லூரைப் பாடுமின் புலவீர்காள்
அடுக்கு மேலம ருலகம் ஆள்வதற்
    கியாதும் ஐயுற வில்லையே.



Poets!
even though you praise one who has no strength as Bheema,
even though you praise one this person is victorious Vijayaṉ himself in archery,
even though you praise one who does not give anything he is Pāri himself in liberality there is no one who will give you what you want.
Sing the fame of Pukalūr of our god who is the embodiment of all virtues and has a body smeared with holy ash.
There will not be the slightest doubt to rule in the world of the celestial beings which is above the pile of several worlds.

காணி யேற்பெரி துடைய னேகற்று
    நல்ல னேசுற்றம் நன்கிளை
பேணி யேவிருந் தோம்பு மேயென்று
    பேசி னுங்கொடுப் பாரிலை
பூணி பூண்டுழப் புட்சி லம்புந்தண்
    புகலூர் பாடுமின் புலவீர்காள்
ஆணி யாய்அம ருலகம் ஆள்வதற்
    கியாதும் ஐயுற வில்லையே.


Poets!
Even if you praise a person who has no landed property, he has extensive lands as his possession!
He is learned and has good conduct.
protecting Kinsmen and relations.
Even though you praise he will be hospitable to guests, there is no one who will give you anything you want.
Sing the fame of cool Pukalūr where the birds in the fields make a big noise when the farmers yoke the oxen and plough the fields.
There is not the slightest doubt for you to rule over the heaven residing there as linch-pin to the cart of that world.
