Verse 4:

Santēesan, heaped the sand in the river, Maṇṇi as Siva Lingam, according to the inner thought of Siva, having in his mind the feet of our chief, the origin of all things, the chief of the immortals living in several universe. On seeing that, he cut off completely the leg of his father who saw the worship and flew into a rage and kicked it.  The chief who bestowed many kinds of his grace on Danti is in Āppāṭi.  The Lord appointed him as the leader of his devotees, granted him the food he ate the dress he wore, the flowers that he adorned on his body and the position of Santeesan.  (Āppāṭi is the place where Saṇṭeeasar daily worshiped an improvised Siva Liṅgam and poured milk he got from cows that he undertook to graze).

Pondering over after listening to religious instructions and getting clarity of mind,
being Sivam in the clear knowledge, being the good benefits accruing from that and being one half a lady with a bright forehead, situated permanently on the southern bank of the river Maṇṇi surrounded by gardens where the balmy southern breeze blows, the god who is without end and measurement is in Appati.

Having adorned his head with leaves of Vaṉṉi, cruel, Dhatura flowers, crescent moon and a river.  Having a bright from that shines like lightning, and the ultimate wisdom,
having a maiden on one half, and being the ideas that take shape in the minds of those who meditate on him.  The god in Appāṭi is there for the devotees to sing sweet music.

Being interior and exterior, being private and public,  having a form and being formless, being the floods and the banks that restrain it, being the moon and the sun,
being the deception and being in the midst of deception and being the ideas and the meaning of those ideas, Siva in Appāṭi is there to give to fill up the hollow of the hand who want to carry away in large quantities.

Being mental delusion and clarity of mind being the big mountain and the air, being faintness and concentration of mind, being united with the mind, being movement and the end, being the guardian deities of the eight quarters, the god who is in Appāṭi is the five senses which can shake one and are under self-control.

Our father who transcended the worlds, assuming a form of fire of unbearable heat,
who has a form of very great effulgence, which could not be found by Brahma and Vishnu, Siva who is in Appāṭi desiring it, will bestow the true spiritual wisdom on those who bow before his feet, going to him and praising his fame in the second person and in the third person.

When the demoṉ of great strength but who had no power to think about his action, lifted Siva Kailash, when Uma was frightened, pressing him to break his bones by leaving their position, the superior Lord who heard the melodies of seven notes and those of less numbers of notes when he fell down roaring with great anger, is in Appāṭi.

Padigam on Tiru Appati concluded.

Tiruk Kurukkai Veerasthanam:

Verse  1:

Brahma performed worship at the feet of the Lord, by scattering flowers and uttering his names at the beginning of creation.  Siva understood it so that Brahma who chanted the Vedas can be conscious of it.  The Lord in Kuṟukkai Vīraṭṭam which has gardens where the bees hum with great noise, having worked through many flowers for gathering honey appearing as the light of happiness in the effulgent light of spiritual illumination,  he transcends words that try to describe him.

Verse 2:

Besmearing his body profusely with holy ash and carrying out daily his routine worship bathing god with the water of the Kaveri, having filled the pots with it. To take away the life of the Brahmin, thinking that the span of life granted to him came to an end,
Siva in Kuṟukkai Vīraṭṭam trod upon the god of death who came ordered by Dharmarajan.

Under the Atti tree which grew luxuriantly, heaping the sand in the river, Maṇṇi, in the form of a Siva Lingam,  inviting Siva to condescend to be present in that Lingam, on that Siva Lingam, seeing his son bathe the Siva Lingam with the milk which was milked from the cows, when he cut the leg of his father who committed a great sin by kicking the milk-pots, with a big and cruel battle-axe, the Lord in Kuṟukkai Vīraṭṭam gave him a well-cooked food.

Even the spider which constructed a sacred Pandal in Āṉaikkā to provide shade to the Siva Lingam, with its web, as soon as it died there by being done to death by the elephant, as Kōchen Kannan,  who was fit to wear a crown.   Kuṟukkai Vīraṭṭaṉār made it to be born in the family of the kings who ruled Chozha Kingdom, girt by the Kāveri, into which many rivers mingle.

Vishnu, in the incarnation of Kaṇṇaṉ, controlled seven bulls simultaneously having in his hand thousand flowers having counted them, performed worship by scattering flowers at the feet of the Lord who has on his matted locks, a river Ganga, when one flower was missing to fill up the number of thousand and when he wanted one more flower, when he removed his eye which was like the flower, from his body, Kuṟukkai Vīraṭṭaṉār gave him a discus which he wished for.

After pelting the Siva Lingam, with stones,  Sakkiya Nāyaṉar, who was in the habit of having gruel after that, Siva made him rule over the Siva Lokam, so that he may not even eat rice got from paddy.  (The idea is he attained bliss without the necessity of having to eat rice in the next birth at night.)  Holding fire in his hand performing beautiful dances Kuṟukkai Vīraṭṭaṉar liked the melody-type Kolli.

In the hand there were a bow for protection, an arrow and a heavy weight of cooked meat, removing with a big sandal made of leather, the flowers and leaves on the head of Siva Lingam, bathing the god with the water brought in the pot, his pure mouth,
when the blood which is red like fire was flowing from the eyes, as soon as Tiṇṇaṉ inserted an arrow in his eye. the Lord in Kuṟukkai Vīraṭṭam caught his hand securely.
(The story is as follows: God wanted to show Tiṇṇaṉ's devotion, to Siva Kochariyar,
on the sixth day blood was flowing from the right eye.  Tiṇṇaṉ tried all cures to stop it but of no avail.  At last he removed his eye and grafted it on the lord's eye. When he was in ecstasy, God made blood flow from the eye also.  Now Tiṇṇaṉ was happy as he had succeeded in stopping the flow of blood in the left eye, he thought: I have one more eye. I shall remove it.  God could not bear the sight and firmly held his hand and said thrice "Kaṇṇappa! stop this. Stop this.")

In Maṟaikadu, Vedraranyam, which was worshiped by the Vedas, which contains many truths before Kali Yugam was born, when the black rat trimmed with anger the light that was burning very high, as it burnt its nose, as it came there with the intention of eating the ghee in the hollow of the lamp, the god in Kuṟukkai Vīraṭṭam gave without anything to be desired in the next birth, to rule over this earth surrounded by the sea full of water, heaven and the world where there is ever-lasting bliss.
