content of Padmalai vis a vis Guru Vachakai Kovai

David Godman has co-authored English translations of above Muruganar's works,which were of course based on Bhagavan's utterances from time to time.Can members,who have read both books in depth, elaborate on what is the difference in content between the 2 books?Regds,anand.

Padamalai refers to the divine nature of Bhagavan's golden feet.  It praises the holy
feet throughout. Whereas Guru Vackakovai refers to Bhagavan's various teachings.

Both are similar in terms of teachings of Bhagavan.  Hv read GVK but only heard padamalai during few reading sessions (4:30 to 5:00 PM) in the Asramam.

GVK is verbatim rendering of Sri Muruganar on teachings heard from Bhagavan as and when he heard from Bhagavan and got it validated subsequently by Bhagavan.  Sadhu OM has written a tamil commentary on the same and it is available in the Asramam's book store.

Padamalai is a praise on the holy feet of Bhagavan as that bestowed Sri Muruganar the ultimate bliss. It is an outpouring of his ecstasy.

Core ideas contained would be  similar in both.

According to Sadhu OM, Upadesa Undiyar, Ulladhu Narpathu, and GVK are prasthana-trya of Bhagavan's teachings.

Padamalai from David Godman is more easy, intereting with stories, side quotations, comments etc.

this makes the phrases more interesting and energetic to read.

GVK is bit heavy but the beauty is it carries the aura of Murganar somehow...the statements pierce straight through...

it should be read in random passage mode , taking that message suitable for that space and time point....
