உன்னி மனத்தெழு சங்கமதே யொளியத னோடுறு சங்கமதே
கன்னிய ரைக்கவ ருங்களனே கடல்விட முண்டக ருங்களனே

The protection afforded by the bell at the entrance to the temple, you will not leave the mouths of your devotees who sing your praise. The group of devotees who start for worship thinking of you in their minds.  It is the group which come to your temple with brilliance obtained by observing Saivaite rituals. The thief who steals the minds of the maidens of Dārukāvaṉam, the one who has a black neck due to drinking the poison that rose in the ocean.  The weed by name by Shaṇpu is beautiful in the beautiful city of this god who is without destruction.  It is Shaṇpai where fields with produce are many.

When the king of the demons, living in Lanka, lifted Kailash, dislodging it.  He sang about the praise of the god when all his senses were lost in a short while, to save himself. The Lord having condescended to hear the songs, as Rāvaṇaṉ's five senses lost their proud state and became submissive due to devotion.  To that king who had a shining complexion like the night, Rāvaṇaṉ was the name he got by that act what he got by being admitted to his grace was a great sword.  The feet of Haraṉ in Sirkazhi have got great fascination for his devotees.

Vishnu who has eyes like lotus, and Brahma who is seated in the lotus, who wandered joined with him, assuming the form of a pig to dig the earth which is despised, and assuming the form of an eagle which soars high in the sky. Both of them could not find the feet and head by their joint efforts.  (This is another version of the Puraṇic story that Brahma assumed the form of an eagle.)  The Lord of all living beings in Kochai, where the flowers in the very cool gardens are fit to be used for performing Pūja to Siva.  He will ride on a bull always, he is the master of all souls. (The two reasons for the name of Pasupati are: 1 the master of all souls; 2 riding on a bull.

In the presence of the assembly of the king of Madurai, which has huge walls of fortification, the god who did the act of the palm leaves on which this decade was written and the leaves themselves, to go upstream in the floods of the river, Vaigai.
The god who destroyed the Aruku Jains who indulged in slander and blemish about Saivites.  It is a wonder that the fame of the Saivaites which is beyond even comprehension, was spread by this act throughout the world.  It is due to the abundant grace bestowed by god who dwells in Kazhumalam. The words of Jnana Sambandhan, proficient in Tamizh, who received god's grace. The removal of the sufferings of those who are capable of reciting these is definite. (This decade was sung when Jnana Sambandhan,  returned to Sīrkāzhi, and worshipped Tōṇiappar, after establishing Saivism and destroying Jainism in Pandya Nadu.)  (Periyapurāṇam, Tiruj?āṉa Sambandhar Purānam, verses, 953, 954.) .

(The Padigam contains 12 names of Sirkazhi, one in each verse.)

Padigam on Tiruk Kazhumalam completed.)

Tiru Ekampam: (Kanchipuram):

Verse  1:

Siva is a rider on a big and galloping bull.  He has on one half of his body a lady as beautiful as a portrait.  There is the loud sound of the pure celestial beings chanting the Vēdas. His luster is seen in the sacrificial fire tended according to rules of the Vēdas.  You are the minute idea, among the good things that are fit for investigation.
You are the supreme being, rare to obtain, who is under the shade of the banyan tree.
Quaking is the thing, that Manmatha, who had a bow, experienced when you destroyed him.  Ēkampam in the shrine of the supreme being who has a frontal eye.

The row of waves is the ornament that Siva wears on his matted locks, hankering after it, in his body also there is a garland of white skulls.  Let us say that an ornament is an eye which was scooped by the fingers of the beautiful hand which resembles a weapon.  It is the trident, his weapon which has spreading light, and shines.  The groups of Bhutas are spreading by his side.  The groups of living beings praise him. The fact that he begs alms in every entrance is only illusion.  He dwells permanently in Kampam out of desire. (Kampam: corruption of Ēkampam; see verses 10 and 11 of previous decade.)

Siva wears white dead nettle with white flowers of Yarcum.  He tied the tether to the bull to go before separately. It is his desire to smear his body with sacred ash taking it in the hollow of the hand.  The cobras that were created, cover his body.  His dress of a skin with spots makes a harsh sound.  We consider it as a great achievement having been strong in every past eon. The pillar that is Siva, who adorns himself with flowers having honey, is as strong as iron.  (Sivaṉ is called Sthāṇu, which means a pillar in Sanskrit.)  His residence is Ēkampam in the big city of Kā?chi.

Siva is the chief who adorned himself with the shell of a fully-grown tortoise.
He is the first to come into existence and rides on a strong bull having adorned it with greenness.  He has the nature of catching a cruel cobra and make it dance.
He has the greatness of his devotees bathing with milk and ghee with desire.
He collects alms in a bowl of a skull which is dried. Other good people along with the celestial beings, investigate the manner of worshipping him.  The hearts which have not learnt about him are as hard as iron pillars. His permanent residence is Kampam in the big city of Kā?chi.

Siva bestowed his grace by granting Pāsupatam on Vijayan, assuming the form of a hunter. His neck became black by consuming the poison that rose in the ocean;
the dancing cobra is above the dress which is like the belt.  All the worlds that are the combination of the five elements are destroyed by him.  The chaplet of a crescent moon that has two ends and is white, is beautiful. The net of devotion that is cast by the sincere devotees who have a blot-free mind, is beautiful if dwelling in the cremation ground is your place.  Is it proper to say that the great city of Kampam is also yours?

The fire that has a banner of black smoke is in the hand.  His feet is in the hands of the great daughter of Himachala.  The feet are gently pressed by her hand. Siva bore the burden of buds and flowers on which bees swarm buds are also permitted for worshipping god.  Siva bears the skeleton of Vishnu who has a discus, which is a big burden, dancing in broad daylight.  You made the minds of young ladies to pine away. (the meaning of this line is not clear).  see 3rd verse.

Long ago when the lady who had the color of the cloud performed penance in the Himalaya to have Siva as her husband, Siva tested her firmness by disguising himself as an old man and dissuaded her from doing penance at that time when he came with craftiness to test her sincerity when she performed worship with an improvised Lingam, of sand on the bank of the river Kampa.  Along with bamboos, eagle-wood, sandal wood and other trees which have knots, rolling elephants and other beasts which could not run to save their lives.  The arrival of the river with a big noise and expanse. In addition to being embraced by Siva, who bathes in the five products of the cow.  He was as strong as the pillar though there were marks of the breasts which wore ornaments that emitted rays. (see 3rd verse).

He made the deer leave its killing propensity, which was sent to kill Siva by the sages of Darukavaṉam. Wandering for eating, by begging alms and receiving it in a skull,
there is place for the master of the stars, moon, in that head.  You controlled the poison to stay in the neck. Even after that you are as strong as a pillar. God!
you had as your Ekampam as your place of stay.

Siva who had sparks of bright fire issuing from the frontal eye which is like the quiver.
became Murugaṉ, who is the spiritual wisdom which is free from all attachments.
The bird, swan which became mad by flying in a big way, to run in order to see the head of Siva, wandering for an eon in the sky and the underworld.  Their pride and low nature having become changed respectively. Covering your body with the skin of an elephant flaying it from its body, your true nature is of two kinds;  Sakti and Siva. The body of Uma who is united with your body is largely black in color.  It is very difficult to reach your feet by one's own efforts.
The Buddhists without knowing your true nature will be confounded.  They hate praising you, as their minds have not changed.  You are the cause of quaking for the Jains, of black color, when they even think of you. God!  You had as your dwelling place Ēkampam.
