Verse 9:

One who could not be known by Brahma, seated in a fertile (lotus)flower and Vishnu who swallowed all the worlds, who were so proud as to fight to decide who was the chief and who was not, the Lord who is permanent in Niṉṟiyūr surrounded by vast stretch of paddy fields, and who is our wealth, my mind will not know any other thing except his feet as worthy of worship.

Arunachala Siva.

நெறியில்லவர் குறிகள்நினை யாதேநின்றி யூரில்

Without getting confused on hearing the words of the ignorant, Jains, who could not understand the one thing which is meditated upon, losing one's identity without forgetting and not changing from it, which has come down to us as the preceptor showed spiritual path from time immemorial.  Unmindful of the symbols of those people who have no right paths of their own, that praise is really worth the name, which extols the feet of the Lord who holds in his hand a young deer, in Niṉṟiyūr.

Arunachala Siva.

The body and the shoulders (of that Ravana) who lifted the mountain to be crushed.
praising Niṉṟiyūr of the god who fixed firmly one toe, standing. If one says the Tamizh verses whose fame does not diminish, composed by Jnana Sambandhan well-versed in Tamizh, a native of Pukali which abounds in good things. His fame will be filling the earth without decreasing at any time. [The story of Ravaṇaṉ which should be in the eight stanza is mentioned in the last one, contrary to his usual arrangement.]

Tiruk Kazhumalam:  (Sirkazhi):

Verse  1:

The god has water (of Ganga) swelling in the matted hair coiled into a crown on which he wears a crescent, he who pervades all things. The place of great beauty of the god who is intimately united with a lady whose breasts are comparable only to each other and who wears bangles on the forearm. He who has a form of fire, who is in Kazhumalam which is made beautiful by dark parks and fields full of crops.
People of this world!, meditate upon worshipping the feet of the Lord which abounds in granting bliss and have in them the good fragrance of flowers with honey.

Arunachala Siva.

God who has a beautiful neck resembling the sable cloud and blue Nelumbo flower,
he resides in Koṭumuṭi holds in his hand a skull which is without life. He cut off the head of Brahma, in the lotus flower, in the distant past. The place where the deity who has a spreading matted hair, resides, by its side, on the shore against which the sea of rolling waves brings silt, boats, Conches and sharks, dashes.
Our sins and blemishes will become extinct if we think of Kazhumalam where white mangrove, fragrant screw-pine and white Indian water-lily plants are thriving.

When god is formless in the mind he is one when he assumes a form he has the two forms of Siva and Sakti.  He is the subtle elements of sound, touch and form in the fire [This may mean this way also: he is the three sacrificial fires; Akavaṉīyam, Kārukapattiyan and Dhakshiṇakkini.].  He is the five subtle elements of sound, touch form, taste and odor.  He is the six Aṅkam of the Vedam.  He created the seven notes. He has knowledge of the nine things in melodies which are united with eight kinds of arts.
[The meaning of this line is not clear.] If we meditate upon Kazhumalam of the god who burnt, out of anger, with the fire in the frontal eye Cupid, for the devotees to worship his feet, singing his praise, our sins will become extinct.

Arunachala Siva.

He who eats the alms which is given welcomed by the people of the villages, using the skull as the eating plate. He has a brilliant form which is as extensive as the sky.
Kazhumalam which is the abode of the god who adorned himself with Chank beads, the shell of the tortoise, a hooded cobra in the fragrant chest, to make the people of this world to worship his feet, submitting to them. Having scraped off lustrous precious stones along with spiraling Conches of several rows with pearls inside them, and pearls which descend down floating upon the water. At that time when all things are destroyed, having become the cause for the creation which unites the souls with the bodies and the end which separates them.
To be worshipped by the immortals wearing crowns, the temple desired by the god of abundant grace who made the crescent moon his entwined matted hair, to become full in size. Holding in their hands yellow fragrant flowers like gold, water, incense and sandal-paste, when we meditate upon Kazhumalam, where unmarried girls daily worship the form of the god. Our sins and blemishes will become extinct.

God kicked the god of death who came just before impending death (to take the life of Markaṇdeyan) for those who are able to think of the stage when he grants it to those who bow before his feet wearing tinkling anklets. The place which is the abode of our spotless god who removed big sufferings, when the strong waves roar by coming near the artificial hillock which is called Toṇipuram*, when the mastwood trees which open their honey, put forth buds like pearls. When we meditate upon Kazhumalam where the herds of stags live under the shade of the sea-side grove,
our sins and blemishes will become extinct.

(*another name for Sirkazhi/ Kazhumalam)

The strong shoulders and golden crowns of the King of southern Lanka, who had twenty shoulders and who lifted up the mountain which is compared to other mountains, Kazhumalam which is the temple where the god pressed down to be frightened in many ways, resides with desire favorably. Well known as having many names in very many different Aons, everywhere in the earthern worlds and many extensive heaven.  [As there are many universe there are many skies and world.] When we meditate upon Kazhumalam where the waves of the sea dash against the shore to form many pools, our sins and blemishes will become extinct.

Vishnu who averted destruction from torrential rains by uprooting and holding a mountain and Brahma,  seated in the lotus which spreads its fragrance, the temple in which the god whose nature was difficult to be found out by both of them though they tried to do so by their physical strength. Floating on the rolling sea which has strong waves spreading everywhere like mountain, having been made turbid, carrying white oysters also. When we meditate upon Kazhumalam, where ships enter in a row with their merchandise, our sins and blemishes will become extinct.

The Jains, who preach religious instruction having tried to do penance according to their ability, the cause of all things who does not regard the old sayings of those who do not know the penance of physical and mental strains of the Devas, which should be reckoned with receiving in the world the alms placed by ladies, carrying the white skull as the begging-bowl, and having besmeared his form with sacred ash, when we meditate upon Kazhumalam where he dwells happily with a lady having shoulders like bamboo, our sins and blemishes will become extinct.

On the god who resides in the temple desired by him in Kazhumalam which exists without destruction to be praised as the important place in this world of great bustle.
He who fixed his resolute mind, all the ten verses which are associated with music, composed by Jnana Sambantaṉ who is an adept in the arts and Vedas, sufferings which are the cause for the enfeebling of mind and body, will not approach those who can bestow thoughts on them and are able to praise god with sincerity. The sins will be destroyed, will acquire powers superior to those of the celestial beings.

Padigam on Tiruk Kazhumalam concluded.

Koil (Chidambaram):

Verse  1:

The Thillai (Chidambaram) Brahmins follow the dharma as taught by the Vedas and perform various Yagnas maintaining the stipulated fires. They help the world by destroying poverty and other evils by following such dharma. Siva, the primal Lord wearing the young bright crescent moon, dwells in the Chitrambalam temple. All those who hold His feet in their heart will be rid of their sins.

Arunachala Siva.
