Siva being the water that can destroy the world at the time of the deluge. He is the earth, and being the sky, the fire and the air.  He has great grace that protects all beings.  The primordial god having a form who is known by the name Hara. Adorning along with Koṉṟai of fragrance on which bees hum like melody-types out of joy.
Oṟṟiyūr is the dwelling place of Siva who has a white crescent moon that gives light.

Arunachala Siva.

Siva tied a cobra as a belt.  Our father who has on his fragrant chest, which is like the mountain on which the white sacred thread is united with a garland of blossomed Kōṉṟai flowers. Destroying all the sins of those who praise him in the second persons.
Oṟṟiyūr is the dwelling place of the Lord who received on his spreading murky matted locks, water which is always in motion.

Bestowing his grace to those who are separated from cruel sins, according to rules,
dancing swinging the arms according to the measurement of time and songs to the accompaniment of instruments such as Montai adorned with good Conches, cymbals and Takuṇicham an instrument. Oṟṟiyūr is the dwelling place of Siva who remains to be praised by the people of this world, by bathing with water, and scattering flowers at his feet without deficiency in anything.

Siva who has lasting fame on account of forbearance.  The kazhal and the anklet to make a sound, he placed as a burden on his head blossomed Koṉṟai and the crescent moon. The beautiful woman's ear-ring made of gold to shine on the strong and long shoulder which has fullness of beauty, Oṟṟiyūr is the place of Siva who is united with Uma.

In the mind, with an idea that it is good to lead a life of help to others having a bow of a mountain, big and golden, all the three forts of the demons who were hardened in inflicting suffering on others, having smeared himself with the fine powder of the sacred ash in the long burning-ground of people who are dead, Oṟṟiyūr is the dwelling place of the great-lord who shot a single arrow of unbearable heat, to destroy them.

Though Siva is like a mad man, he is a great god by his intellect.  He has tied round the waist a skin flayed from a stag.  Holding a receptacle for keeping sacred ash, made of the bone of the skull, in the form of an oyster-shell, and a trident, the eye of fire to shine on the forehead, Siva who pressed down under the big and fertile mountain the body of the demon who brought disgrace on himself by being angry with god,  Oṟṟiyūr is the dwelling place of the god who rules over the whole world.

Brahma who is in a lotus flower which is very much wished by people who look at it.
and Tirumāl - Vishnu, thinking about themselves as gods, being unable to see Siva by their own knowledge. When devotees meditated on the brilliant red feet,  to destroy all the sins of those who praised Siva, is in Oṟṟiyūr, the dwelling place of the great god who stood as unequalled with a great brilliance which spread everywhere.

The Jains who hold in their hands a bundle of peacock's feathers, and the Buddhists who wander covering their bodies with a robe soaked in red ochre, people of this world!  Do not fix your minds steadily on the words of those two who are like the rock-horned owl and who do not have the power of discrimination and only slander the god who gave out the Agamas.  Oṟṟiyūr is the dwelling place of the Lord who can admit us as his protege granting joy, who can rule all the seven worlds.

About Oṟṟiyūr, where the Lord who pervades everywhere and who wears on his head a waxing bright crescent moon, those who are able to fall prostrate at the feet of Siva and praise him in the second person with the help of the verses which are made beautiful by music and composed by Jnana Sambandhan, erudite scholar of Tamizh who is the chief of the inhabitants of Sanpai, will reach the upper world which adorns the sky according to their wish. Salvation is easy for them after that.

Padigam on Tiru Orriyur completed.

Tiru Sattamangai:

Verse  1:

You placed on your head the crescent moon, which is always enjoying the fragrance of the garland made with the distinctive Koṉṟai flowers.  He is being united with a lady having large eyes like big lotus a thing that is consented to be good by all. The one who dwells in the temple Ayavanti! - the first cause who has a form and is seated in the hearts of devotees in the great Sāttamaṅgai where the clouds, rub against the gardens which have big flowers.

Arunachala Siva.

When the sacred thread of three strands stays in one part of the chest on which sacred ash is smeared, is it a fit pact to be united with a tender lady who is like a slender creeper? To be praised by the sage Nakkaṉ in Sāttamaṅgai which has gardens from which new fragrance spreads daily. (This Sāttamaṅgai was the birth-place Nīlanakkanāyaṉār; see also 11th verse of this decade; his story is told in detail in Periya Purāṇam; Tirunīlanakka Nayaṉār Purāṇam.)

Arunachala Siva.

Having adorned his chest where a good sacred thread is staying, smearing sacred ash.
riding upon a bull, is it dignified to be united with a lady who has looks like the deer?
in Sāttamaṅgai which has gardens on which the clouds with good water crawl.
our Lord who bathed in the good five products of the cow and who dwells in Ayavanti desiring it!

Having shot an arrow on the forts improvising the big Meru mountain as against the forts of his enemies, having smeared yourself with white sacred ash, is it graceful to be united with a lady whose waist resembles the hood of the cobra that lives in an anthill?  In the city of Sāttamaṅgai where learned scholars live, to be praised daily by people whose sins committed in previous birth become extinct as they worship Siva with their hands. Siva who dwells in Ayavanti with desire!

One who sings the Vedas, rides on a bull, and smears himself with well-burnt white sacred ash! Is it elegance to be united with a lady who holds a ball in her fingers?
In Sāttamaṅgai where Brahmins who retain in their memory the beautiful six Aṅkams and the four Vedas, worship.  Being the end and the cause of all things, Siva who dwells with desire in Ayavanti!

Himself being the Vedas and the sacrifices, being salvation the fourth objective worthy of human pursuit which is well known to all, and being the effulgent light, can the state of having a lady as a half be spoken praiseworthy?  In Sāttamaṅgai where worthy people of great fame and superior by their caste conduct worship, the great one who is the first cause of all things! One who dwells in Ayavanti with desire!
