Siva will smear on his red body white sacred ash; will put to rout gradually the Karma-s that are with the devotees who meditate upon him without ceasing.
It is the place where the god who truly stands by the side of the devotees who fall at his feet by singing his praises. People say is Pukalūr where devotees who do not have falsehood in their minds and desire the grace of god, live without leaving it.

Arunachala Siva.

Pukalūr where the bustle of festival, and the sound of Muzhavu which is played; everywhere by the crowding devotees who desiring god, are eminent, roars to make the roar of the sea a feeble sound. People say, it is the place of Siva who danced in the cremation ground in which he resides when the sounds of the Kazhal, anklet and flute combine and roar, to be praised by the dwarfish Bhootas.

Arunachala Siva.

Wearing a shining crescent on the red matted locks, which glitters, and is completely filled with the flood of Ganga, granting the grace which the devotees who experienced god in their minds and who do obeisance to him and praise him, value greatly.
People say it is the place of the god who removed the reproach of souls being in bondage, for our deception to come to an end, by enjoying it. Pukalūr which increases in wealth by the rich produce of the fields in which birds live in large numbers.

First crushing the heads and strong shoulders of the King of beautiful Lanka who lifted the mountain catching hold of it, by his shining toe and then hearing the music sung by him. Siva who has matted locks glittering like lightning, and who granted boons in the distant past. The place where he desires to dwell with a young lady,
is Pukalūr where the moon rests on the beautiful mansions which shine like gold,
that is what people say.

Siva has on his head a cobra, the Lord whom the devotees who worship his feet with joined hands and praise him, place him in their hearts. It the place of our Lord who rose very much as a total fire to be worshipped with joined hands and praised by Vishnu along with Brahma. It is Pukalūr which has gardens which give pleasure by its shade and where honey flows.

It is the place of the god who is worshipped by devotees who keep away from the deceitful words of the large number of Buddhists and Sākkiyar (a sect of Buddhists) which have no real substance, and who do penance if we speak about them.
The pious devotees having plucked flowers saying prayers, scattering them and bathing him with water, is Pukalūr where those devotees who practice sincere penance reach the superior heaven.

Arunachala Siva.

In Pukalūr which is the abode of Siva, who tied a cobra which lives in the ant-hill, in his waist having as their support the garland of Tamizh verses composed by Jnana
Sambandhan of Sirkazhi, where good and learned people live. People who sang always with music reaching the feet of the supreme god, without any faults,
and the wants being fulfilled, will be brilliant as their fame is increasing day by day.

Padigam completed.

Tiru Valithaayam:

Verse  1:

சித்தம்வைத்தவடி யாரவர்மேலடை யாமற்றிடர்நோயே.

scattering shining beautiful flowers and sprinkling water from the palm;
many Brahmins along with pious people of other castes.
chanting the mantrams of the Vedam in a uniform accent.
to be praised by the people of this world with joined hands.
sufferings and diseases will not reach the devotees who always think of Valitāyam in their minds, in which the god who placed on his lofty head Datura flowers, dwells without leaving it.

Siva, the beautiful god, (the wonderful god) is light in weight.
is near at hand to devotees. He to be praised always by devotees who are not bound by ego, with joined hands. He has red color.  The temple where he who is able to hold cruel weapons dwells with a dear lady. When the people of this world come and pay homage. People of this world!  Think to save yourselves, Valitayan which is great by curing the diseases. If you think of that shrine, your acts will leave you.
Happiness will come to you.

Siva has an unequalled bull which is the embodiment of righteousness and which could not be counted along with other bulls. Performer of dance, surrounded by an army of Bhutams. Our god who wanders tying in his waist a cobra that lives in the anthill, the temple where he stays with a lady. He is Valitayam which the world thinks to be filled with luster. For devotees who sing the praises of God is the refuge catching hold of that shrine.

In order that the acts of those who meditate with their intellect without being dragged by the sense-organ, may leave them, the temple where he who is the object of meditation and who has the great brilliance like the evening sky, dwells with desire.
in all place on its sides. He is Valitayan which is worshipped by the female monkey with its male. The removal of the acute sufferings which afflict those who do not think of that shrine, is not easy.

Killing Manmatha who came against Siva to discharge floral arrows, by the fire that issued from the eye-ball which occupied the eye. The temple where the god who rejoiced in having a half occupied fully by a lady.
