Holy Works that purify the mind
« on: December 25, 2015, 08:47:39 PM »
Dear Friends,
I would like to start this thread to invite responses for works that purify the mind.
As is known , Bhagavan's method involves diving into the heart (the supreme self-not the physical heart) and such diving can be made only by a mind, purified through some means like Bhakti,Nama JApa or Jnana - though all of these are in some ways interrelated.
Here I am looking for inspriing sources for purification through the mode of  Bhakti.I would like to pitch in with some of my own favourites .
1.Periya Puranam
2.Bhagavata(condensed version ) by S.S.Cohen
3.Tripura Rahasya.
4.Ashatavakra Gita.
5.Bhagavan's various works and particularly "The Talks."

Dear Anand,

Infact chanting arunachala shiva nama japa is the best way to purify mind.

next is bhagavan's works like aksharamana malai, ulladhu narpadu etc.

next is Thiruvasagam ( I cannot place this third, it should  be first).   Bhagavan revered this particular work like anything.  His Mother's maha nirvana was marked by continuous full chanting of this work as ordered by Bhagavan. Kunju swami has written what happened that night of Mother's maha nirvana.

Therefore let us start reading extracts from Thiruvasagam. automatically mind will sink into Heart.
