Poems from Mountain Path - 2015 onwards.
« on: June 21, 2015, 09:30:56 AM »

SWAN -  By Chris Roe: Mountain Path - Jan - March 2015.

Preening,
Soft, virgin, white feathers,
Aware of my presence
But not of my world.
Before me, another world,
No analytic philosophy,
No targets, budgets, or schedules.
Mo self appraisal,
Or attempt to be
Something other than
Just part of.
Now she rests,
Head tucked under wing,
Slowly drifting down stream,
Among the reeds and dragonflies
And the trees on either bank.
I stayed awhile,
Until the moment was lost
But not forgotten,
A picture to place
Upon this page.

Arunachala Siva.

Roots - Suchitra - Mountain Path - Jan - Mar 2015:

When I complain of pain like a thorn in my heart,
That will not let me sit and breathe
eat sleep laugh or cry or do anything worthwhile,
they ask me to dig deep and find the roots of this pain,
of this debilitating ineptitude.
This pain of this world, they say,
childhood traumas adolescent blues coming of age fears.
I burrow deep into my own darkness
like an industrious mole,
like Vishnu who was determined to find
the base of Arunachala.
Vishnu dug for thousands of years to no avail.
With the shovel of each thought
I throw out one fistful of darkness after another
and to my surprise,
I find the treasure chest of you, Bhagavan.
All I want it to embrace it,
--- Not to take a sliver as if it were my own.
Please do not ask me to hurry up move  on like they do
when one stands before Venkataraman at Tirupati
with folded hands
and a melting heart.

Arunachala Siva.

ROUNDING - Upahar - Mountain Path - Apr.June. 2015.

Blessed this night wind on the heart's old pathway;
invisible love, closer than all memory, flowing within.
  Who will speak now,
   or put on the burning robe of silence?
         All is already given.

Slow moon of long forgotten prayer ascending;
our timeless faith, imponderable gift, singing all alive.
  Who could possess this endless moment,
  or wear the crown of joy?
      The vast wings spread.

Blessed this ancient world, at the edge of dawning;
ocean of stars, above Your lovely head, dissolving within.
   Who will seek shelter now,
    or long for the bright completion?
        Our refuge is infinite.

Arunachala Siva.

From  July - Sept. 2015 of Mountain Path:

Haikus:  by Cheenu Srinivasan.

Restlessness is mind
What folly to becalm it.
Elusive is peace.

Our inner peace Is
Not the absence of disturbance.
Is this too troubling?

Gaps in consciousness
Between remembered moments
Is the eye of the I.

From Mountain Path - July. -Sept. 2015.

Sadhakas of Tiruvannamalai - by Suchitra Sathyanarayan.

A unique species of
Burnt ropes
Who carry their bodies around
Simply and lightly
Sometimes very heavily
On hired bicycles tiny scooters or foot
In and out of Ramansarmam
In and out of old hall mothers temple samadhi hall
dining hall skandasramam virupaksha
Round and the round the mountain
round and round His samadhi,
With their own singular brand
Of grim or benign silences
And secret sustaining humor
Each working with the single lethal aim
And under tight Inner commanded schedules
Of performing His or her own funeral rites
At Ramana's Feet
Before the body falls.

(This poem has also been posted to explain something by Anil.)

The following poem appeared in Mountain Path, Jan. - March 2016.  This is by Upahar:

*

Notes to Self:

Inestimable form of things;
 time, and the whirling stars;
these dancing, dying bodies; children of earth,
 our clamor and cry;
river of thought in the shadowland of dream  ---
 Love, none of this can veil you.

Invisible the root of this appearing,
 unthinkable the flower;
within, without; belonging still to no one,
  and yet most gladly, marvelously here.

Knowing, unknowing; the empty heart mysteriously
  abounding;a moon through clouds, a blossoming --
Love, all of this reveals You.

(The following poem also appeared in Mountain Path, Jan. - Mar. 2016.)

The Lap of Love

(Anna Ramana)

*

Let me, O God, be most intimate with my own heart.
Relieve me of the crust congealed in crevices.
Lure me into the lap of love
Where you and I abide as One.
And always have.

Why do I resist?
Who is it hides from her real home?
What dream of me keeps me from your truth?
Don't let me stray like a wild dog,
Gnawing on the bone of illusion.

My one wish is for you ---
To fall into your arms, O my Beloved,
To rest in the quiet of your charms.
What is this dream of life but a chance to die
Into the light of your Pure Being?

Let me live as That, while breath still courses through.

I lay my head at your lotus feet,
O Holy Master.
One gaze from you and I am free.
I close my eyes now
That I may truly see.
