நந்திக்கும் நம்பெரு மாற்குநல்
    லாரூரில் நாயகற்குப்
பந்திப் பரியன செந்தமிழ்
    பாடிப் படர்புனலில்
சிந்திப் பரியன சேவடி
    பெற்றவன் சேவடியே
வந்திப் பவன்பெயர் வன்றொண்ட
    னென்பரிவ் வையகத்தே. (33)

Sundaramoorthy Nayanar

The greats of the world celebrate him
As violent servitor who attained the dear
Ruddy feet soured by falling waters,
Chanting faultless chaste Tamizh hymns
Chanting the praise of Lord Nandi
And of the lord of Aaroor dear to thought.

வைய மகிழயாம் வாழ
    வமணர்வலி தொலைய
ஐயன் பிரம புரத்தரற் கம்மென்
    குதலைச் செவ்வாய்
பைய மிழற்றும் பருவத்துப்
    பாடப் பருப்பதத்தின்
தைய லருள்பெற் றனனென்பர்
    ஞானசம் பந்தனையே. (34)

Sambantha Moorthy:

For the world?s bliss, for us to delight,
For Amanar?s* evils to be banished,
In holy Brahmapuram,** consort Uma ? mother
From Himalayas, fed the lisping mouth
Of the Gnostic child with milk of gnosis
And made the child sing melic song ? garlands.

பந்தார் விரலியர் வேள்செங்கட்
    சோழன் முருகன்நல்ல
சந்தா ரகலத்து நீலநக்
    கன்பெயர் தான்மொழிந்து
கொந்தார் சடையர் பதிகத்தி
    லிட்டடி யேன்கொடுத்த
அந்தாதி கொண்ட பிரானருட்
    காழியர் கொற்றவனே. (35)



Tirujnanasambandhar

Mangaiyarkarasi talented in ball ? play,
Kulacchirai kocchengatchozhar, Murugar
And Tirunila Nakkar like servitors
Are blest to be sung by Jnanasambandhar
In his melic song ? garlands, referenced
For reverence. The Kaazhi?s Lord even accepted this anthology of anaphoretic verses on servitors.

கொற்றத் திறலெந்தை தந்தைதன்
    தந்தையெம் கூட்டமெல்லாம்
தெற்றச் சடையாய் நினதடி
    யேம்திகழ் வன்றொண்டனே
மற்றிப் பிணிதவிர்ப் பானென்
    றுடைவாள்உருவி யந்நோய்
செற்றுத் தவிர்கலிக் காமன்
    குடியேயர் சீர்க்குடியே. (36)


Yeyarkon kalikkaamar

Kalikkaaman of Yeyarkudi declaimed,
O, Father's father's father's Father! .. Thus flows
Your locks in close lineage. Genetically we
Are your vessels. Violent Devotee much your teeth irk
To walk in Aaroor. Can He ever cure me
Of my stomach ? illness. He have his own with a sound which the violent devotee removed and cured.

குடிமன்னு சாத்தனூர்க் கோக்குலம்
    மேய்ப்போன் குரம்பைபுக்கு
முடிமன்னு கூனற் பிறையாளன்
    தன்னை முழுத்தமிழின்
படிமன்னு வேதத்தின் சொற்படி
    யேபர விட்டெனுச்சி
அடிமன்ன வைத்த பிரான்மூல
    னாகின்ற வங்கணனே. (37)



Thirumoola Naayanar

Moola, the neathers was found dead
In an urb of people fast in faith; when lord
The wearer of the sickle ? moon, entered trim,
And composed three thousand verses Vedic
And called them all mantra. The one that did
So cherishing the feet in His heart is yogi Tirumoolan.

கண்ணார் மணியொன்று மின்றிக்
    கயிறு பிடித்தரற்குத்
தண்ணார் புனல்தடம் தொட்டலுந்
    தன்னை நகுமமணர்
கண்ணாங் கிழப்ப வமணர்
    கலக்கங்கண் டம்மலர்க்கண்
விண்ணா யகனிடைப் பெற்றவ
    னாரூர் விறல்தண்டியே.  (38)



Dhandi  Atikal


Dhandi born in Aaroor was blind by birth
The holy tank he took bath dried up. With a
Stake in the midst the unearthed water
And revolted in service; Amanars*
On knowing this mocked at him and lost their eyes
Dhandi gained vision thereof.

தண்டலை சூழ்திரு வேற்காட்டூர்
    மன்னன் தகுகவற்றால்
கொண்டவல் லாயம்வன் சூதரை
    வென்றுமுன் கொண்டபொருள்
முண்டநல் நீற்ற னடியவர்க்
    கீபவன் மூர்க்கனென்பர்
நண்டலை நீரொண் குடந்தையில்
    மேவுநற் சூதனையே. (39)


Moorga Naayanaar

In the cool Tiruverkaatu, Moorga the servitor
Grew to greatness offering food to all servitors,
Lost all wealth and turned power. To among
Wealth we to gamble came to Kutantai. The swan
He got he spent on the triple ? stranded holy ash
Weavers for feeding them; they that refused to play him, He slew with his shrapnel.

சூதப்பொழி லம்ப ரந்தணன்
    சோமாசி மாறனென்பான்
வேதப் பொருளஞ் செழுத்தும்
    விளம்பியல் லால்மொழியான்
நீதிப் பரன்மன்னு நித்த
    நியமன் பரவையென்னும்
மாதுக்குக் காந்தன்வன் றொண்டன்
    தனக்கு மகிழ்துணையே.(40)


Somaasimaara naayanaar

In the Mango grove girt Tim Ambar,
So maasi Maran, helped all taking them
For servitor whatever their nature be. Ever
He chanted the scriptural holy pentagrammaton
He to Aaroor went, Paravai?s spouse
And did a lot of service with delight.

துணையு மளவுமில் லாதவன்
    தன்னரு ளேதுணையாக்
கணையுங் கதிர்நெடு வேலுங்
    கறுத்த கயலிணையும்
பிணையும் நிகர்த்தகண் சங்கிலி
    பேரமைத் தோளிரண்டும்
அணையும் மவன்திரு வாரூர
    னாகின்ற அற்புதனே. (41)



Sundaramoorthy Nayanar:

He was the Miraculous Aarooran fit
To embrace the fawn like Sangitiar?s shoulders,
In armor for she was graced by the unique
Non pareil lord, with long carp ? eye darts
A king to the lance sharp piercing long;
And bamboo ? lithe shoulders alluring.

தகடன வாடையன் சாக்கியன்
    மாக்கல் தடவரையின்
மகள்தனம் தாக்கக் குழைந்ததிண்
    டோளர்வண் கம்பர்செம்பொன்
திகழ்தரு மேனியில் செங்க
    லெறிந்து சிவபுரத்துப்
புகழ்தரப் புக்கவ னூர்சங்க
    மங்கை புவனியிலே. (42)

Saakkiya Nayanar:

Saakkiya of Tiruccankamangkai
With an armor like vest, knock to Bouddhan
To attain gnosis but failed and learnt
The path of Saivism is certain good
Thus clarified, he pelted stones of such flower
On Kacchi Ekambar and reached His feet.

புவனியில் பூதியும் சாதன
    மும்பொலி வார்ந்துவந்த
தவநிய மற்குச் சிறப்புச்செய்
    தத்துவ காரணனாம்
அவனியில் கீர்த்தித்தெ
    னாக்கூ ரதிப னருமறையோன்
சிவனிய மந்தலை நின்றதொல்
    சீர்நஞ் சிறப்புலியே. (43)


Cirappuli Naayanaar:

Cirappuli of Aakkur with love in excess
Toward the servitors of Siva lord, welcomed
Them, with words of kindles and offered
Food for all. Ever he chanted the holy
Panchaksharam. Thus for long did He
Serve for days and reached lord?s holy feet.

புலியி னதளுடைப் புண்ணியற்
    கின்னமு தாத்தனதோர்
ஒலியின் சதங்கைக் குதலைப்
    புதல்வ னுடல் துணித்துக்
கலியின் வலிகெடுத் தோங்கும்
    புகழ்ச்சிறுத் தொண்டன்கண்டீர்
மலியும் பொழிலொண்செங் காட்டங்
    குடியவர் மன்னவனே.  (44)

Siruthondar Nayanar:

Siruthondar of lustrous Cenkottamkudi
With his spouse cut their little lisping son
Wearing anklets, with a sword and looked
A dish and served it to the pure one
In Tyger hyde. He is the servitor
By name Siruthondar verily.

மன்னர் பிரானெதிர் வண்ணா
    னுடலுவ ரூறிநீறார்
தன்னர் பிரான்தமர் போல
    வருதலுந் தான்வணங்க
என்னர் பிரானடி வண்ணா
    னெனவடிச் சேரனென்னுந்
தென்னர் பிரான்கழ றிற்றறி
    வானெனும் சேரலனே. (45)


Cheraman Perumaal Nayanar:

Chera king, by grace of God, intuited
The words of others and was famed
After; his love for servitors was immense
It rained. On that day the fuller came
With fuller?s earth, which dissolved left
Him grey. Seeing Him shackled thus, He bowed unto the fuller?s shock.

சேரற்குத் தென்னா வலர்பெரு
    மாற்குச் சிவனளித்த
வீரக் கடகரி முன்புதன்
    பந்தி யிவுளிவைத்த
வீரற்கு வென்றிக் கருப்புவில்
    வீரனை வெற்றிகொண்ட
சூரற் கெனதுள்ளம் நன்றுசெய்
    தாயின்று தொண்டுபட்டே.  (46)


Cheramaan Perumal Nayanar:

Lord sent the Elephant white to
Fetch Sundarar to Kayilai
Knowing this, Cheramaan before
The valiant tusker?s on,
On went riding his super steed
Piloting the one that won the valorous sugarcane bow man
I salute him the servitor great.

தொண்டரை யாக்கி யவரவர்க்
    கேற்ற தொழில்கள்செய்வித்
தண்டர்தங் கோனக் கணத்துக்கு
    நாயகம் பெற்றவன்காண்
கொண்டல்கொண் டேறிய மின்னுக்குக்
    கோல மடல்கள்தொறும்
கண்டல்வெண் சோறளிக் குங்கடல்
    காழிக் கணநாதனே.  (47)


Gananatha Naayanaar:

Gananaatha of Sirkazhi turned
The people into servitors and gave
Them respective jobs; presiding over
Them, he remained their chief
He look to serving food for all
Wherever clouds flashed and poured.
