The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar, on Siva,
in the temple of Tiruk Kadvaur, Veerasthanam.  This is in 4.107 of Saiva Canon.

This temple is in Mayiladuthurai taluk, Nagappattinam district.  One can go by bus from Nagappattinam
or Mayiladuthurai.

Siva - Amirthkadeswarar.

Uma -  Abhirami Amman.

Holy tree - Bhilva tree, Jathi Mullai (a type of Jasmine) creeper.

Holy tirtham - Amirtha Pushkarani , a tank, and Kala tirtham, another tank.

This is one of the 8 places of Siva's heroic sports.  Here, He kicked Yama and sent him away when
he approached to take the life of Markandeya away.

Siva kicked Yama, the god of Death, when he approached Siva devotee Markanedya to snatch his life,
and made Markandeya ever live with 16 years of age, with out ageing.

To save Markandeya,  the bachelor, who worshipped Him with flowers to be free from the sufferings
of birth born of ignorance.  Kicking the cruel god of death who had a twisted tongue, hairs as red
as fire, curved white teeth and a dark body, [causing him] to tremble with fear,  the Superior God
who dwells in Kadavur, has the lotus red feet with which He kicked the god of death, and caused the
god of death to roll on the ground.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar, on Siva,
in the temple of Tirumarperu.  This is in 4.108 of Saiva Canon.

This temple is in Arakkonam taluk, Vellore district. One can go by bus from Arakkonam or Kanchipuram.

Siva - Maal VaNangeesar.

Uma - Karuna Nayaki.

Holy tree -  Bhilva tree.

Holy tirtahm - Paalaru, a river, Chakra tirtham, a tank.

Siva graced Vishnu,by giving Him with a disc (Chakra),  when the latter was praying to Siva, with
1000 lotuses and when one lotus was short, Vishnu completed the puja by applying His eye in lieu of lotus.

The Feet of Siva in Marperu, which resembles the lotus flower, kicked the god of death, the life span of sixteen years to be permanent, on behalf of the bachelor, Markandeya.  The same feet of Siva, were difficult to be seen by Vishnu, who begged from Mahabali,  three feet of land which was his as of right.  These feet
can be seen only by great devotees who praise and pray to Him.

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar, on Siva,
in the temple of Tiruth Thoonganai Matam.  This is in 4.109 of Saiva Canon.

This temple is in Thittakkudi taluk, Cuddalore district.  One can go by bus from Cuddalore, Virddhachalam,
or Pennakadam to reach the temple.

Siva - Sivak kozhunthu Nathar.

Uma - Kadanthai Nayaki.

Holy tree -  Shanbaga tree.

Holy tirtham -   Vellaru, a river,  Kedila river.

The flame in Thoonganai Matam,   in Kadanthai, where the clouds desired by people are crowded!
There is one respectful representation to your golden feet.  If it is your will to protect the life of mine
who is worshiping you, the dark god of death to leave me at a distance. Inscribe on my shoulder the
trident of three blades which shine like lightning.

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar on Siva,
as a general Padigam.  The verses end with the name of Siva, Pasupthi. This is in 4.110 of Saiva Canon.

O Pasupathi!  The devotees, smearing the holy ashes on the body, and rolling on the ground, and praying
and praising your feet, and seeking your grace, will you not take pity on us?  You wear Ganga on the
matted locks, the lady goddess, with tender shoulders and nice breasts .  Will you not take over us and rule
us? O  Pasupathi!

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar on Siva,
as a general Padigam.  The word "charakaRai" comes in every verse.  This is in 4.111 of Saiva
Canon.

"CharakaRai" means the shade of dirts.

He is the great rider on a Bull which can burst into a rage.  This is my respectful representation.
It is my unique mind, there is the weapon of a cruel battle axe, many Bhutas, which are in rows as an army.
You wear the dress of the skin of a tiger, which pounces on its prey and the garland of broken skulls.
Your head is the treasure house with the matted locks, where the crescent that rises in the evening takes shelter.  (Will you take care of my mind?)

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam is again a general decade, composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar,
on Siva.  This is in 4.112. of Saiva Canon.

Siva has a skull like the fragment of white conch.  He wears a sacred thread of white strands which
are like the wires of silver which shine falling on the chest.  Wearing a white crescent moon which
is like a thin plate of silver on the spread-out matted locks. Adorning Himself with white bones.
the author of the Vedas has smeared on His body sacred ashes, which is like coral powder of white color.

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar, on Siva,
as a general decade.  This is in 4.113 of Saiva Canon.

The strong shoulders of our Father resemble the big mountain of coral.  The many matted locks
falling on the shoulders resemble coral which puts forth tender sprouts. The cobra with a hood like
the tender leaf of the coral is on the matted locks. The cool flowers worn by Him are the white crescent
moon,  which resembles the flowers of the coral.

Saiva Canon 4 of Tiru Navukkarasar - concluded.

Arunachala Siva.

Thillai Chitrambalam,  will give me food.  It will give me gold.  Over and above that,  having seen my
desire to increase in intensity in this world will it still grant me this human birth to desire pleasure
for worshipping Him.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar, on Siva,
in the temple of Tiru Nel Vayil Arathurai.   This is in 5.003 of Saiva Canon.

This temple is in Thittakkudi taluk, Cuddalore district.  One can go by bus from Cuddalore or

The One whom we worship is Siva, who is sweet like the sugarcane.  He is like  the sugar-cane
jaggery, who is like the thing we desire much.  He who is like the bud which even the celestial beings
are incapable of understanding.  He is the God who is like the bee who dwells with desire in
Arathurai.  (Tiru Nel Vayil Arathurai).

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar, on Siva,
in the temple of Tiruvannamalai.  This is in 5.004 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple,  the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtham  --
all these details have been given in the first Padigam on Tiruvannamalai, see elsewhere in this
serial post.

Siva, who has a dress called vattu, (coupina),  and who wears a crescent moon.  The superior one to
the celestial beings, He is the God in Tiruvannamalai.  He, who is the endeared God, shall I be saved
if I forget Him?  He is the One who destroyed all the three cities of the enemies.

(It is enough to attain salvation if one thinks of Tiruvannamalai,  is the belief of advaitis and Saivites.
The destruction of the three cities is mentioned in every verse of this decade.)

Arunachala Siva.

Riding with joy on a straying Bull, I worship with joined hands Tiruvannamalai  of Siva, who has eight
forms, and who wanders collecting alms with desire, in many houses and eats it.  The acts, good and bad,
will definitely be destroyed, and there will be no indigent people of the world!  You know this in your experience.

as that time when the God of death throws his noose and snatches your life.  People of this world!

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukklarasar on Siva,
in the temple of Tiru Anniyur.  This is in Saiva Canon 5.008.

This temple is in Kudavasal taluk, Thanjavur district. One can go by bus from Thanjavur.

Siva - Apatsakyar.

Uma -  Periya Nayaki.

Holy tree - Lime tree.

Holy tirtham -  Soorya, Varuna, Agni tirtham, three tanks.

Siva, has a white skull from which all flesh has gone --- as it was shaken by kites to eat its flesh.
He has a person of red color on which holy ash is smeared. He has a body one half of which is the
lady goddess.  The God in Tiru Anniyur,  has a matted hair on which the river Ganga wanders
back and forth and who made cobra which can cause death, to dance.
