The following verse and the Padigam, called Namasivaya Padigam, has been composed and sung by Tiru
Navukkarasar, when he was tied to a stone pillar and pushed into the sea, by Jains and the king who had
agreed to give this punishment, as per the advice of Jains.  Siva's grace graced him, who chanted Namasivaya,
the Panchaksharam, and the saint came out of the sea, when the pillar became a float and he reached the shore
unharmed, on a coastal village called Kuppam.  This is near Cuddalore.

This is in 4.011 of Saiva Canon:

There are ten verses under this Padigam and I propose to give all the ten verses.

Verse 1:

The first cause who is the Veda-s which are in the form of words the Supreme Being, the light divine. He is the world of salvation which knows no destruction. As I worship with joined hands and the heart to hold the feet, and the feet to
hold the heart, the feet which are perfect, two in number and as valuable as gold. Though I was bound to a stone pillar
and thrown into the sea,  Namasivaya,  is the companion which will grant salvation.

Arunachala Siva.

Verse 2 of Namasivaya Padigam (Saiva Canon 4.011):

That which sets off the beauty of flowers is the attractive lotus, that which sets off the beauty of cows is Haran, Siva.
Siva is bathing in the five products of cows, That which sets off the beauty of rulers is their impartiality, that which
sets off the beauty of the tongue is Namasivaya.

Verse 3 of Namasivaya Padigam: (Saiva Canon 4.011)

If the fire enters into the firewood piled to reach the sky, to consume it, nothing will be left  Namasivaya, will root
out the sins which the soul commits. If one gets practice of this, It would draw you near.

Verse 4 of Namasivaya Padigam, (Saiva Canon 4.011)

Even if we are caught in any suffering like Ravanan, we would not request anyone begging him. If you free us from
this suffering as you are our Master and as we have a steady mind fixed to your feet,  even while undergoing
acute suffering. Namasivaya, is the Mantram that destroys the quivering which is the result of the fear of death even
if we are caught under a mountain and lie there by its grace.

Verse 5 of Namasivaya Padigam, (Saiva Canon 4.011)

For all the people who have taken religious vows, that which sets off the beauty is well-burnt sacred ash. That which
sets off the beauty of brahmins is being well-versed in the abstruse Veda-s and six Agama-s.  That which sets off the beauty of the crescent moon is the shining and long head of Siva.  Namasivaya sets off the beauty of us who are
Saivites.

Verse 6 of Namasivaya Padigam, Saiva Canon 4.011.

Siva, the dispenser of good things has no partiality.  H does not do any good except to people who approach Him.
He grants daily good things.  Though some do not have noble lineage,  Namasivaya will give abundantly good things suitable to that birth.

Verse 7 of Namasivaya Padigam (Saiva Canon 4.011)

Those preeminent devotees who have given up worldly attachments joined the path to salvation. When they went,
joining that path, I ran after them.  When I saw the form reaching the aim by running, I sought the Mantram
Namasivaya that Mantram also sought me.

Verse 8 of Namasivaya Padigam, Saiva Canon, 4.011.

It is inner light inside the body.  It destroys ignorance, elucidates the meaning of words which are inside them.
the light divine.  As the souls are innumerable, It lights them all internally. It stands to be seen by all types of
religious seekers, without their knowledge.  It is the lamp that shines inside the form of spiritual knowledge that
Mantram is Namasivaya.

Verse 9 of Namasivaya Padigam, Saiva Canon 4.011.

He is the first of all things and His is the oldest path and He has three eyes. It is definite that His path is the refuge
for all souls. Namasivaya is the salvation for all those who reached god, having gone in that path.

Verse 10 of Namasivaya Padigam, Saiva Canon, 4.011:

To worship with joined hands in the appropriate manner the perfect fact which wear flower garlands of Siva who
has on His left half the lady goddess, and a young deer.  There will be definitely no affliction to those who are
capable of praising Siva, with ten verses extolling the greatness which is united inseparable with the tongue.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar, on Siva, in the
temple of Tirup Pahanam.  This is in 4.012 of Saiva Canon.

This temple is in TiruvaiyaaRu taluk, Thanjavur district.  One can go by bus from Thanjavur, to reach the
temple.

Siva -  Abadhsakaayar.

Uma - Periya Nayaki.

Holy tree - Bhilva tree.

Holy tirtham - Kaveri river.

The flocks of  cuckoos which practice the order of words without ceasing. Will you please tell Siva, the God who
is in Pazhanam, where many rows of bees which have lines on them, hum softly like melodies.  Will Siva who wears a golden garland on His chest and has a head in which the matted locks, coiled into a crown, on which the crescent
moon that rises in the early part of the evening, is shining,  Will He neglect me after enjoying my fresh beauty, after my
coming of age?  He will not.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Navukkarasar, on Siva,
in the temple of TiruvaiyaaRu.  This is in 4.013 of Saiva Canon.

The temple which is in TiruvaiyaaRu, is in Thanjavur district.  One can go by bus from Thanjavur.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtham -- all these details --
have been given in the first Padigam on TiruvaiyaaRu, see elsewhere in this serial post.

I, who am following the God like a dog, who am as low as a dog, am not able to leave the desire for wealth.
I am incapable of giving even a small amount when somebody wants something to be given. I got confounded on
hearing .the moral instruction of Jains. I am coming to have a view of your red feet like flawless flowers, following
you.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed by Tiru Navukkarasar, as a general decade.  This Padigam,
called Dasa Puranam, describes the ten sports of Siva.  This is in 4.014 of Saiva Canon.

I propose to give all the ten verses.

Verse 1:

Winding round a big mountain Mantaaram, the celestial beings who do not wink, abandoned the serpent wound
round the mountain seized with fear, running helter-skelter on seeing the rising of the poison. In order to destroy
the white color of the tall Vishnu who has the goddess of wealth. To burn the sky, when the poison was increasing
in its vehemence rising and going fast. When the celestial beings requested Siva, "Lord! Grant us a remedy for this
poison with His benign grace. That Siva, the only Supreme Lord of the celestial beings, who consumed the big poison without allowing it to burn all the worlds.

Arunachala Siva.

Verse 2 of Dasa Puranam. Saiva Canon 4.014.

When the huge universe was covered with the floods which were moving swiftly with great noise spreading
everywhere, a pillar was standing in the earth and the God, the Supreme Being manifested in that.
Brahma and Vishnu, to bow down before that, saying, "there is nothing comparable to this standing on both the
sides."  The Great God,  whose head which is above and the feet could not be known to them, only Siva, who has
a visible form, and who is Superior to the celestial beings, who are considered Supreme, is our refuge.

Verse 3 of Dasa Puranam, Saiva Canon 4.014.

Having a single form before the stars and eon and time were created, manifesting Himself very well in the form
of Haran, (Siva) , Hari and Rudran, and being the form of the eminent six religions, Shanmathams, Siva, who stood
as a column of fire, swallowing the seven worlds, the sky which is above, and this world, assuming the form of a
dwarf.  The God with a form, who is superior to the child who slept on the leaf of a banyan tree, Mahavishnu, is our
refuge.

Arunachala Siva.
