The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar, on Siva
in the temple of Tiru Valanchuzhi.  This is in 3.106 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtham -- all these details
have already been given in the first Padigam on Tiru Valanchuzhi, see elsewhere in this serial post.

Siva, different from the world, who stood desiring the floods of Ganga, with many waves to stay always in the hollow
of His spreading matted locks, He of unbounded liberality who rides on a bull,  dwells in Valanchuzhi. Realize Him,
reaching that place, thinking of Him, praising Him to make your hearts melt out of piety.  You will rid of great diseases.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar, on Siva,
in the temple of Tiru Naaraiyoor.  This is in 3.107 of Saiva Canon.

The God who consumed the bitter and cruel poison that rose in the ocean, riding on a bull, He is smearing His body
with holy ash. He has Uma on one half and holding a bow, discharged an arrow, on the strong city of Tripura.
Naraiyoor, is the place in which the God who removed all the accumulated karmas which produce suffering to devotees, dwells happily .

regard towards other religions and go about scorning Vedas and sacrifices mentioned in them.  The Supreme God
who is united with the lady goddess, as one half!  Only your fame should increase in this world. Siva. who is the

This verse and the Padigam must have been composed and sung when the child saint was about to go to
the King and the Jains to win over them in debate.

Subramaniam Sir

Tiru Valanchuzhi is famous for the White Conch type Ganesha .I had seen that temple in Kumbakonam . The idol of Vinayaka is white in colour and is believed to have been created out of sea sand. Hence, the temple is also known as Swetha Vinayagar Temple in Sanskrit or Vellai Vinayakar Temple in Tamil, meaning "the temple of the white Vinayaka".

According to popular legend, Indra, the king of the Devas created the idol of Ganesha out of sea sand during the churning of the ocean and left it in a niche in the temple hoping to get back the idol sometime later. But later, when he returned to remove the idol of Ganesha, it would not budge. So, the idol was allowed to remain where it was.

Has Jnana Sambandhar sung any verse on this Vinayaka ?
However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them? - Buddha

Dear atmavichar 100,

Yes. Jnana Sambandhar has written verses on Tiru Valanchuzhi, on Siva, though not on Vinayaka. If I remember,
I have posted today one verse on Tiru Valanchuzhi, Saiva Canon 3.

I know the story of Vinayaka made of sea foam. But I am not aware of the Indra's story. Tiru Valanch
Chuzhi being near (about 1 km.) to Swamimalai, which is my family deity, I have seen the temple
a few times. I have not visited the Siva temple behind, since that temple was dilapidated during those years.

The Vinayaka shrine is closed for ever by a stone door with a large number of holes. The idea is to ensure
some air into the shrine. However, the door is not opened except for some time in a year. There is no
abhishekam for Vinayaka.  Only punugu, civet, cat's excreta, a fragrance, is applied on the image once in a way.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva,
in the fashion of 'Koodach Chathukkam', that is mention of four names.  This is in 3.109 of Saiva Canon.
The four names of temples are: Tiru Mahendra Puram, Sri Kailash, Tiruvarur, and Tiru Anaikkaa.

The location of the four temples, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy trees, the holy tirthams of the four
temples have already been given in the Padigam-s of the four temples at various canon verses, see this
serial post elsewhere.

Siva, in Mahendrapuram, who desires the white jamoon plum tree to dwell, who cannot be found out by Hari,
who swallowed the world, and Brahma seated on a lotus flower.  He who resides in Kailash, which has extensive
area and the one who is in the eminent Tiruvarur  is the God, who is the origin of all things and is also in
in Tiruvaanaikka.

violent acts. The fame of the devotees who chant the names which do good of the Hara, who dwells in the good Brahmapuram,  will spread in the wide world.

How can we say that we are god?  You are the only God.  You are singing Yaazh, a violin like instrument.
You are the one who is of greatest beauty.  Even the dangerous creatures like serpents, you are wearing.
You are the one who  burnt Manmatha, and made him go without any form. You are also Mahavishnu.

You are the form of sacrifices.  You are playing Yazh, a violin like instrument. You the Mother of all.
You are the destroyer of all the lives and worlds. You wear Aathi flowers. You made the rishis' wives in
Daruka forest, to get enchanted by your beauty and fall in love with you.  Please protect us from sufferings.
You stay in Sirkazhi.
