The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva,
in the temple of Tiru Veezhimizhalai.  This is in 3.098 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtham -- all these details
have been given in the first Padigam on Tiru Veezhimizhalai, see this serial post elsewhere.

Siva, in Mizhalai,  which has fortified walls on which the moon crawls. You have as ornament the bright crescent
moon, on your matted locks. It is natural for those who esteem you as the Supreme God, for their intellect, which
thinks only of attaining your feet as their only aim, to increase.

Subramaniam Sir

After a long gap only I am seeing this thread . Would be happy if you can present Thevaram verses for the following 2 temples:

1) Thiruvadai Maruthur
2) Vaitheeswaran Koil ( in Tamil it is called Pul-Irruku-Velor )

I do not know whether you have already shared the verses for the above 2 temples before .
Regarding Thiruvadai Maruthur it is significant as all the 4 Saivite Saints have visited that place and sung hymns in Praise of the Cheif Deity "Mahalinga Swamy " ( In this place Lord Shiva's name does not have Ishwar as the suffix like Vaitheeshwar , Kapaleeeshwar but as Maha Lingam ) and it seems even Adi Shankara has visited this place and the Lord Maha Linga Swamy gave him the darshan assuring him that Advaitam is Sathyam .

Dear atmavichar100,

I saw your post.  If my memory is correct, I have covered these two temples in Saiva Canon 1 and 2. Kindly see
the posts under these two canons.

in the temple of Tiru Mudhu Kundram, nowadays called Vriddhachalam.  This is in 3.099 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtham -- all these details

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva
in the temple of Tiruth ThONipuram, another name for Sirkazhi.  This is in 3.100 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma and the holy tree, the holy tirtham  --
all these details have been given in the first Padigam on Sirkazhi, see elsewhere in this serial post.

Having burnt the form of Manmatha, who has sugar-cane as his bow, and granting a boon that he would be visible in
form, to his loving wife Rathi,  the wonderful act of having with delight on one half the lady goddess, whose breasts
are like lotus buds, is indescribable. The place where the Lord who removed and took away my feminine qualities womanliness in broad daytime, is in ThONipuram,  of flourishing charities surrounded by gardens which are desired
by bees. The wonderful act means making people believe that the Lord married Uma only through the efforts of
Manmatha.

The following verse and Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva in the
temple of Rameswaram.  This is in 3.101 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtham -- all these
details have been given in the first Padigam on Rameswaram, see elsewhere in this serial post.

Swinging to and fro, for the cobra which has a big jewel to dance, people who can understand distinguishing the
action of the spotless god on whose head, the white crescent moon which spreads rays is waxing and who is in Rameswaram,  where in the sea-shore gardens the bright pearls are shining, with the excellence of His dance
holding fire, when the jackals move rapidly in the fire which scorches everything, are really endowed with true
spiritual knowledge.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana
Sambandhar on Siva in the temple of Brahmapuram, another name of Sirkazhi.
This is in 1.127 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtha
-- all these details have been given under the first Padigam on Sirkazhi, elsewhere
in this serial post.

The verses are called Eka Padam.  The same line is repeated four times in
each verse.

The Lord staying in Brahmapuram is our Master.
The Lord staying in Brahmapuram is our Master.
The Lord staying in Brahmapuram is our Master.
The Lord staying in Brahmapuran is our Master.

//

The detailed meaning as given by one ancient commentator is as under:

the Parasakti which is the spiritual atmosphere;
that fullness is to be exceedingly wondered.
That great one, our Lord.

(Having wondered at the fullness of the Parasakti of the spiritual atmosphere, having as its form the pleasure which is beyond the reach of the Parasakti, that thing whose beginning, middle and end is not known, is that great person).

In the heaven, water, desire,
the lady whose looks are like the deer`s looks -- our soul.

(He is our life who has Ganga which flows in the upper region of the heaven and
He is our life who never forsakes us)

the state of Brahmam,  the body, thinking, desire insatiable He who came
to me to make me equal to him.

(the god who came to me to make me equal to him with an insatiable desire to send me into eternal bliss and who was considered to be in the form of the supreme being).
the Lord who dwells in Brahmapuram, is my god-master.

(The meaning of the complete stanza - the god who is the creator who majestically dwells in Sirkazhi which has Brahmapuram, as one of its names, is a great one, my life, and has come into the world to be equal to me, is the god who dwells in Sirkazhi.

I did not understand head or tail. But one thing is sure. Saint Tiru Jnana Sambandhar
did not write these verses, where the same line is repeated four times, as a word play,
but with some inner meaning, which ordinary mortals like me cannot understand.

Arunachala Siva.

Subramaniam Sir

1) Is this the temple where Saint Jnana Sambandhar got the darshan of Lord Shiva and Parvathi  near the temple tank when he was a young boy .

2) This verse looks strange and has anyone given any proper interpretation to this verse ? In Thirumandiram these sort of 4 line verses will be there .

Dear atmavichar100,

Tiru Jnana Sambandhar had breast milk (Jnana Milk) from the goddess and also had the darshan of Siva
and Uma in Sirkazhi, another name of Brahmapuram.  There are 12 names for Sirkazhi.  Brahmapuram is
one.

This verse is a little confusing for ordinary people like me. I have given the commentary of Sri Subramania
Iyer, which is in French Institute of Pondicherry, where Iyer explains the Brahmapuram in four lines in
four different ways. There seems to be no other commentary available.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva,
in the temple of Tiru Naaraiyur. This is in 3.102 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtham -- all these details
have been given in the first Padigam on Tiru Naaraiyur, see elsewhere in this serial post.

Siva,  who combined in Himself, half of the lady goddess, of soft shoulders which are superior to bamboo. who is in Tiru Naaraiyur, which has big and prominent pools surrounded by sweet water and which has many good properties.
He, who has golden twisted matted locks, on which the beautiful water of Ganga stays, we shall bow before the feet of Paṇṭarangan*,  who tied tightly a cobra on the skin of a tiger which was flayed.

* the One who is in the old hall, that is, Chidambaram,Kanaka Sabha.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva,
in the temple of Tiru Valampuram.  This is in 3.103 of Saiva Canon.

The temple is located in Gudiyattam taluk, Vellore district. One can go by bus from Gudiyatham, Sirkazhi
or Mayiladuthurai.

Siva - Valampuri Nathar.

Uma - Vadu Vagirk Kanni Ammai, the one who has got eyes like split baby mangoes.

Holy tree - Palm tree.

Holy tirtham - Brahma tirtha, Lakshmi tirtham, Swarna tirtham, Pankaja tirtham,  all tanks.

The master of the immortals, who shot an arrow with a thunderous roar, to pierce through the three forts on
which flags were flying holding a bent and cruel bow. The devotees praise in a chorus. The place of Siva, who is
closely united with the lady goddess, whose waist is like the drum tapering towards the middle, as a half is
the good city of Valampuram, where the buffaloes of good form lie down in the fields .

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva
in the temple of Tiru Parithi Niyamam.  This is in 3.104 of Saiva Canon.

This temple is in Thanjavur taluk, Thanjavur district.  One can go by bus from Thanjavur.

Siva - Parithi* Appar.

* parithi is Sun. Sun god prayed to Siva here.

Uma - Mangala Nayaki.

Holy tree - Peepul tree.

Holy tirtham - Soorya tirtham, Chandra tirtham, Veda tirtham -- all tanks.

Wearing on the head the white crescent moon,  which has the sky as its place, the long, loosened and ruddy matted
locks to hang low,  smearing on the chest which has the lady goddess, the white sacred ash begging alms without
minding it to be a despicable act, He stays in this place. The Chief who stole the beauty along with the tenderness
that captivates the eye, is in Parithi Niyamam,  where the swarm of bees which hum like music and dance round the lowers.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva
in the temple of Kalikkaamoor.  This is in 3.105 of Saiva Canon.

This temple is in Sirkazhi taluk, Nagappattinam district. One can go by bus from Sirkazhi or Nagappattinam.

Siva - Sundareswarar.

Uma - Azhagmmai.

Holy tree - Bhilva tree.

Holy tirtham - Chandra tirtham.

In Kalikaamoor,  which is full of beauty as it is surrounded by fields and gardens where from the petals of flowers
limitless honey is flowing, here the waves of the sea which are like mountains combine among themselves and pour
forth pearls.  To praise the feet of the unequaled one who is the cause for the life of the soul within the body, sufferings
will not follow. The twin acts, good and bad, will be destroyed and one will receive His grace .

Arunachala Siva.
