Verse 10 of Tirup Paasuram of Tiru Jnana Sambandhar: (3.054 of Saiva Canon)

Desiring to feed the devas, who were on their side the nectar which is not available anywhere Vishnu and Brahma
of four faces who was well-versed in the Vedas, caused the ocean to be churned.  Consuming the hala hala poison,
which rose from there, whose cruelty was unbearable,  the act of Siva, was to bestow His grace on the immortals.

Arunachala Siva.

Verse 11 of Tirup Paasuram, of Tiru Jnana Sambandhar: (3.054 of Saiva Canon)

Besides that act of grace one who founded the Sangam* in beautiful and cool Madurai, for those people who are
not clear about the superiority of Siva to be clear in their minds about that fact, if we think of the fact that the palm
leaf in which the verse was written, thrown into the clear water went up-stream safely without being washed away
by the water, and reached the bank. Is not the god who held aloft a bull in His flag, a great God?

*A group of Tamizh poets who were in Madurai.  Siva and Muruga were the first two poets there.

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva, in the temple
of Tiruvanmiyur.  This is in 3.055 of Saiva Canon.

Siva,  who wears koṉRai flowers abundant in fragrance! The one who has neck which consumed the poison!
The one who has many forms of fame which are spoken by devotees! The one who has Uma, the goddess of distinction,
as a half! The King who dwells in Tiruvanmiyur, surrounded by the clear sea full of waves, my love will not reach
other gods except You!

As it is made of conch, it is white in color. He gave out in the remote past the Vedas which contains truths.
Worship Brahmapuram, of the God who has red matted locks of hair on the head wearing a crescent moon, and who
stays permanently with the daughter of the mountain, Hema, (Uma).
