Verse 10 of Namasivaya Padigam of Tiru Jnana Sambandhar:

கஞ்சி மண்டையர் கையிலுண் கையர்கள்
வெஞ்சொன் மிண்டர் விரவில ரென்பரால்
விஞ்சை யண்டர்கள் வேண்ட வமுதுசெய்
நஞ்சுண் கண்டன் நமச்சி வாயவே.

Buddhists who drink gruel from a mud vessel resembling in shape the skull, and Jains who eat their food keeping it
in their hands, wise people say, that those strong people who speak cruel words are not friendly towards
Namasivaya of Siva,  who has within His neck poison, which He consumed at the request of devas,  endowed
with intelligence.

Arunachala Siva.

Verse 11 of Namasivaya Padigam of Tiru Jnana Sambandhar:

நந்தி நாமம் நமச்சிவா யவெனும்
சந்தை யாற்றமிழ் ஞானசம் பந்தன்சொல்
சிந்தை யால்மகிழ்ந் தேத்தவல் லாரெலாம்
பந்த பாசம் அறுக்கவல் லார்களே.

The words of Jnana Sambandha, having knowledge of Tamizh having the refrain of Namasivaya,  the name of
Nandi, all those who are able to praise Siva. with joy in their minds will cut at the root of attachments which
bind them.

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva,
in the temple of Tiruth ThaNdalai NeeL NeRi.  This is in 3.050 of Saiva Canon.

This temple is in Tiruth Thuraip Poondi taluk, Tiruvarur district. One can go by bus to this temple from
Tiruvarur.

When Vishnu became very arrogant, in Koorma avatara, and moved with pride, Siva removed His shell
and then after Vishnu's prayer, He was given back the shell of the koorma, tortoise.

Siva - NeeL NeRi Nathar.

Uma -Jnanambika.

Holy tree - Kurundhai tree.

Holy tirtham - Kaveri river, Omaga tirtham.

He is in Tiruth Thandalai NeeL NeRi, where you can see Him, wearing sweet moon and Ganga on His matted locks,
which are swarmed by butter flies and bees. This is the fertile place where the sugar cane and red paddy and
areca nut trees grow abundantly.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva,
in the temple of Tiru Aalavai, Madurai.  This is in 3.051 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree and the holy tirtham have already
been given in the first Padigam on Madurai, see elsewhere in this serial post.

The Padigam was sung by the saint, when he found that the Jains had set fire to the house where he was
staying, when he came to cure the colic pain of Pandya King, who was a Jain.  As soon as he sang this
Padigam, the fire (the suffering or pain) went and seized the King, who suffered more from colic pain.

O Lord of golden red hue! O Lord who is in Madurai, (as Sundareswara)!  O my Master! Please grace me,
saying 'Do not fear!" The people of falsity, the Jains have set fire to my place. Let that fire go and seize
the Pandya king!

O Lord! The devotees who wish nothing but liberation come to your holy feet and sing your glory.
You grace them (with liberation) for the fulfillment of their wish. O Lord, you wish to stay only
in cremation ground. O Kapali, you stay in Koodal, Madurai, which has got high walls and houses,
O Lord! This is your glory and your principle.

O Lord, you are in Tiruvanaikkaa, with matted locks on which the white crescent moon is seen. You are
having as your consort on the left of your form, the sweet tongued goddess. Those devotees who take
you as their refuge and live their lives, have no need to take anything else as their refuge.  They have
no sufferings and misery too in their lives.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar as a general
Padigam of twelve verses, describing the glory of Siva and His grace to snap the misery and sufferings of
the devotees who pray to Him.  This is in 3.054 of Saiva Canon.

This is called Tirup Paasuram. There are twelve verses. I propose to give, with Sri Bhagavan's grace,
all the twelve verses and their meanings in English.

Verse 1 of Tirup Paasuram by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar: (3.054 of Saiva Canon)

Long live the brahmins who chant and sing Vedas and Stotrams, and do sacrifices,  as per the rule!

Long live the devas, who take those good karmas to You!

Long live the herds of cows, which give the, milk, curds for pujas and sacrifices and also vibhuti from their panchakavyams!

Long live the kings who make these practices of devotees to flourish by giving money and gold!

Let all the evil forces in the form of other religions be removed by your grace!

Long live the name of Hara, Siva.

Let the benefits of these rituals and prayers engulf the whole world, and let the three types of sufferings of the
world be over!

Arunachala Siva.

Verse 2 of Tirup Paasuram of Tiru Jnana Sambandhar: (3.054 of Saiva Canon)

You are rare for realization for those who have only the knowledge of their body (pasu) and the worldly
things, (pasam). You are attained by those who have got the knowledge of Your true nature (Pati).
You come in human form with fire on your hand, and with dark spot of poison on your neck, for those devotees.
You prefer to stay in the cremation ground. But you are the greatest of all gods, and your nature is hard to
be realized by all!

Arunachala Siva.

Verse 3 of Tirup Paasuram, of Tiru Jnana Sambandhar: (3.054 of Saiva Canon)

He applies the burnt ashes (holy ash) as a fragrant powder. He has no father and mother.  He confers
all benefits to those who think and contemplate on Him, and removes all the miseries and karma fruits.
He is the Father for all of us. Who else can He be?

Verse 4 of Tirup Paasuram, of Tiru Jnana Sambandhar: (3.054 of Saiva Canon)

If anyone questions about the manner in which the first cause of all things, Siva, grants His grace and [about]
His many attributes and greatness, they are innumerable. We need not dilate upon that. By bowing your heads to
the feet of our Father, approaching Him, let those who are fit to receive His grace listen to them so that sufferings
which cause pain, and sins which come as the cause of those, will cease.

Arunachala Siva.

You need not investigate Siva, by statement of reason and by words which are used as illustrations.
Our light divine is brilliant both inside and outside. You live meditating on that light; People who want
to be rid of great sufferings! People who are abounding in virtues! Approach Him at least for a moment!

Verse 6 of Tirup Paasuram, of Tiru Jnana Sambandhar: (3.054 of Saiva Canon)

Wise men say that Siva dances, kicks the god of death who is difficult to be warded off and sings the Vedas.
Are these acts done by Siva to attain fame or to save souls?  If one investigates what is the use of fame to
Him? If you question that He completely roots out the sufferings and births as the sins leave the souls, can you
establish that there is any other will except His grace which He bestows without any ulterior motive?

Arunachala Siva.

Carrying in his hands fragrant buds and flowers, when Siva was bathed with milk which was of good quality,
Chandikesa, severed completely the leg which had joints, of his father, long ago.   Have we not heard people
with intelligence to say that he reached the feet of Siva who has three eyes.

As the world is eminent having as its cause Siva, who is the cause of the Vedas, the people of this world praise
Him so that any fault might not occur in their conduct. The works of Rishi Sutha, which proclaim Siva, who is the
cause as the Supreme God, in the eighteen Puranas.   (Sutha was the sage who narrated all the Puranas to the sages
who had gathered in Naimisaranyam for a sacrifice).

The round world surrounded by the ocean was harassed and put to much suffering and became weak by enemies
seeing the mental agony of the god who is sleeping on the ocean* which was dashing against the shore as if engaged
in a battle against it.  Desiring to bestow His grace to Vishnu who had Siva, in his heart, caused, the latter, to leave
the ocean of water and come to this earth to fight the enemies.  The famous act of granting a discus capable of fighting
to Vishnu by Siva was praised by all people.

(* Vishnu lying in the milky ocean)
