The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva
in the temple of Koil, that is Thillai or Chidambarm. This is in 3.001 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree, the holy tirtham -- all these details
have been given in the first Padigam on Koil, see elsewhere in this serial post.

You are given abhishekam with good smelling ghee, milk, and curds.  You are worshipped by brahmins
of Tillai with contemplation both within and without, chanting Tiruch Chitrambalam. You chose to live
in that temple, with konrai. You also chant the Vedas and songs. Your matted locks have got cool Ganga
and crescent moon.  Please confer a life where the old karma and its fruits will shrink and become nothing.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on
Siva in the temple of Tiruk Kollampoothur. This is in .3.006 of Saiva Canon.,

The temple of Kollampoothur is in Tiruvarur district, near Needamangalam railway station.
One has to get down in Needamangalam railway station and go by bus for about 9 kms. One can also
go directly by bus from Tiruvarur.

The place is nowadays called Tirukkollampur.

When the saint poet Tiru Jnana Sambandhar wanted to reach the temple, he saw the Mullivaaikaal, a
canal which was flooded.  The boatman had gone away since the boat could not be rowed due to floods.
The saint poet ordered a boat to come and move with him and his  devotees.  The boat without boatman
went and left them on the other bank of the canal near the temple!  This is evident from the first verse.

Siva - Bhilva Vaneswarar.

Uma - Soundarambika.

Holy tree - Bhilva tree.

Holy tirtham - Brahma tirtham.

கொட்ட மேகமழுங் கொள்ளம் பூதூர்
நட்டம் ஆடிய நம்பனை யுள்கச்
செல்ல வுந்துக சிந்தை யார்தொழ
நல்கு மாறருள் நம்பனே.

To meditate upon Siva, who dances in Kollampoothur, where the costus root spreads its fragrance, Siva, capable of granting us His grace as we worship Him in our minds! Let this boat be propelled to reach the opposite bank to
enable us to worship Him in person also.

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva
in the temple of Tirup Pugali, another name for Sirkazhi.  This is in 3.007 of Saiva Canon.

The location of the temple, the names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree and the holy tirtham -- all these
details have been given in the first Padigam on Sirkazhi, see this serial post elsewhere.

The Lord who has an eye on the forehead, and who has smeared Himself with the sacred white ash,
danced standing, the Bhoodhas to sing music with paN (musical ragas), to make the anklets to sound.
The supreme divine light is definitely the great God who is seated majestically with the noble lady in the
city of Pugali,  which is praised by the brahmins who have learnt the four Vedas and enjoy the fruits of virtuous
acts.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva,
in the temple of Tiruk Kadavur Veerasthanam. This is in 3.008 of Saiva Canon.

The temple is in Mayiuladuthurai taluk, Nagappattinam district.  One has go by bus from Mayiladuthurai
to reach the temple.

The temple is one of the eight places where Siva did heroic deeds.  Here, He kicked Yama, the god of death,
who came to Markandeya (a great Siva devotee who was destined to live only 16 years), punished Yama
and saved Markandeya to live a life of eternal time - Chiranjeevi.

Siva - Amrithakateswarar.

Uma - Abirami Ammai.

Holy tree - Jathi jasmine tree; Bhilva tree.

Holy tirtham - Amritha Pushkarani, Kala tirtham, two tanks.

They are eight Veerasthanams in Tamizh Nadu. 1. Kaṇdiyur, 2. Kovalur, 3. Adhigai, 4. KuRukkai, 5. Kadavur,
6. PaRiyal, 7. Virkudi and 8. Vazhuvoor.  There is an old verse that gives the names of the places and the
valorous deeds that Siva did in them.

One who has matted locks,  who bathes in Ghee, who dresses in a loin cloth that slips away a little, who is the
husband of Uma who has bright eyes on which collyrium is coated, and the God who has a bull and who is in
Kadavur, where tall storeys rise high and which have beautiful entrances. Is he not Hara who is in Vīrasthanam?

Arunachala Siva.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva
in the temple of Rameswaram.  This is in 3.010 of Saiva Canon.

The temple is in Ramanathapuram District.  One can go up to the Rameswaram Railway Station and walk
down about 1.50 kms. from the railway station,  Or one can go by taxi or car from Ramanathapuram.

Sri Rama prayed to Siva here to find a way to out to cross the sea to go to Sri Lanka to vanquish Ravana.
Siva was pleased and blessed Him to make a bridge through the help of vanaras, monkeys. The Siva Lingam
has been installed by Sri Rama Himself.

The temple is quite important since those who go for pilgrimage to Varanasi should also visit and pray to
Siva in Rameswaram. Hence the Hindus from all over India visit this place.

Siva - Ramanatheswarar.

Uma - MalaivaLar Kadhali, the one who was brought up by Himavan, the mountain.

Saint Tayumanavar has composed a poem of many verses titled, 'MalaivaLar Kadhali' -- O daughter of
the Mountain, Himavan.

Holy tree - Bhilva tree.

Holy tirtham - Agni, Rama, Lakshmana tirthams.  There are 64 tirthams here.

Having controlled the water of the Ganga, along with waxing cool crescent moon by the side, Siva, the first cause
who has half of His body of Uma, in which the breast are mature, thinking it to be the proper place. Rameswaram
which has seashore gardens in which the fragrant screw-pines whose leaves grow long are flourishing and this is
the place where Siva who wears a beautiful garland of Skulls, reigns.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva
in the temple of Tirup Punavayil.  This is in 3.011 of Saiva Canon.

The temple is in Avudaiyar Kovil taluk, Puduk Kottai district,. One can go by bus from Avudaiyar Kovil
or Aranthangi.  This is a very ancient temple.

Siva - Pazham Pathi Nathar.

Uma - Karunai Nayaki/

Holy tree - Punnai tree.

Holy tirtham - Lakshmi tirtham, Brahma tirtham.

புன்னைநன் மாமலர் பொன்னுதிர்க் கும்புன வாயிலே.

Siva wears a white crescent moon on the red matted locks, which has the qualities of lightning.
He wears a loosened sacred thread on His chest, and He goes to many places dancing and singing the four
Vedas and saying them often. The place where He stays with the lady whose gait is comparable to that of the
swan, is Punavayil,  where the good big flowers of the mast-wood trees grow and shed pollen which is gold
in color.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva
in the temple of Tiruk KOttaaRu.  This is in 3.012 of Saiva Canon.

Siva,  who is praised as the brahmin among gods, is praised by the residents of heaven in the clear meaning
which is mentioned in the eternal Vedas. There will be no sufferings for those who can meditate upon the origin
of all things and praise Him in KOttaaRu, which is made beautiful by being surrounded by cool gardens where
bright colored parrots peck and adjust their feathers.
