The following verse and the Padigam have been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva in the temple
of Tiruveezhimizhalai.   This is in Saiva Canon 1.82.

Siva - Vizhi Nathar.

Uma - Sundara Kuchambika.

Holy Tree - Vizhi tree.

Holy Waters - Vishnu Tirtham.

The place is near Poonthottam, in Nannilam taluk of Tiruvarur District.

Mahavishnu, while doing puja to Siva, with 1000 lotuses, found one lotus lacking and he offered his eye in lieu of lotus.
Siva, pleased by his dedication, graced Mahavishnu with discus weapon. Hence Tiru veezhimizhalai, is the name of the town.
'Vizhi' means eye in Tamizh.

This is also the temple where Tiru Jnana Sambandhar and Tiru Navukkarasar
got one gold coin each daily, at the front and rear door of the temple and these
coins were used to buy rice and vegetables  for cooking and feeding the people
of the town, who were stricken by ravages of drought and famine conditions.

தெரிந்த அடியார்கள் சென்ற திசைதோறும்

HE held the MERU as the bow, and fiery Vasuki,  as the arrow and destroyed Tripura. He stays here in Tiru Veezhinizhalai. In this town, the people receive with happiness all the Siva devotees who come here to have darshan.

The Tripura, the three cities, fell into the great fire of His smile and was burnt.
He, the Father, with a flag of Rishabha, and with white crescent moon on His matted locks, stays in this town of Maakalam, with cool water ponds. For those who pray
to His anklet wearing feet, their karma fruits will not bind them.

Tiruvarur. Kaa Koranam means raising one to Moksha, Sivapdam, with one's
own body. Here one Pundarika Rishi was taken by Siva to His Abode with
his body.

This is the birthplace of Athipattha Nayanar. It is also one of the Sapta vitanga
sthalams, i.e seven places of holy dances of Siva.

Siva - Sundara Vitangar.

Uma - Neelayadakshi.

Holy Tree - Mango Tree.

Nagaik Kaaronam (Nagap Pattinam), where on the main streets around
the temple one can hear the thunder like sounds of the roaring sea.

In Nagap Pattinam Tevaram (reply 122), Jnana Sambandhar calls the sea,
as 'roaring like thunder'.  In Nagap Pattinam the sea is, most of the times
making thunderous noise.  My father was working in Nagap Pattinam, in 1960s.
He has told me many times in his life, about this 'special characteristic' of the sea
with ever making thunderous noise though all the sea makes noise, particularly
on Full Moon / New Moon days.

While Jnana Sambandhar says - 'muzhavamodu....',  Saint Arunagiri Natha
says in his Tiruppugazh, 'Olam ittu iraiyum' - the sea that sounds like distress
calls.

Incidentally, during tsunami of 2004, Nagap Pattinam was one of the most
affected areas in Tamizh Nadu.

Jnana Sambandhar says in the above Tevaram, (  Reply 123     )   many
devas were punished, in a variety of ways, in Daksha's sacrifice.

Saint Manikkavachagar says in his Tiu Undiyar in greater detail, how each
deva was punished.

In Nagap Pattinam Tevaram, the roaring sea, which is a specialty,  has been
described. (Reply  122         ). I also mentioned how Arunagiri Nathar in his Tiruupugazh, also mentions this aspect.

Poet Kalamegam, known for his witty stray verses, says in one of his such verses,
'in Nagai, where the sea is crying'. "kaththum kadal nagai..." The verse reads as:

In the free boarding house of Nagai (nagappattinam), owned by Kaathan, where
the sea is always crying, the rice (allotted by the land lords), comes at the time
of sunset.  When the rice is washed and put in the cooking pot, (ulai), it will be midnight when the town is asleep. When the cooked rice is served on the leaf, it will be the time for Venus (vidi velli) to rise on the eastern sky!
(that is early morning).

I do not readily have the original Tamizh verse.

The website projectmadurai helped me in tracing out Kalamegam's
stray verse, to cut and paste it.

The following two line verse and the Padigam, has been composed and sung
on Siva of Tiru Brahmapuram. This in Saiva Canon 1.90.

The two line couplets are called Kural (see Tiruvalluvar's Tiruk Kural)
and Jnana Sambandhar calls it Tiru irukku kural.

Tiru Brahmapuram is another name for Sirkazhi.  The details of location
of the temple, names of Siva and Uma, the holy tree the holy waters are
seen under Sirkazhi.

The following couplet (Tiru irukku kural) and the Padigam, has been composed
and sung by Tiru Jnana Sambandhar on Siva in the temple of Tiruvarur.
The Padigam is in Saiva Canon 1.91.

Tiruvarur is on the train route between Thanjavur and Tiruthurai poondi.
It is today a district headquarters.

Tiruvarur is the birthplace of Sundaramurthi Swamigal. About Tiruvarur,
there is a saying that one who is born here attains liberation. Kanchipuram
is also said to confer mukti for those who are born there. This is also the
birthplace of Nami Nandi Adigal.

There are in fact three temples here for Siva here. Poonkoil, Araneri,
Paravaiul Mandali are the three names. The last one is a small shrine
for Siva built by Paravai, wife of Sundaramurthi.

The present Padigam is on Poonkoil.

Chembian maa devi wife of Kandaradhitya Chozha was born here and she
had arranged many renovation for the temple.

Paravai the first wife of Sundaramurthi Swamigal was born here.  In fact
to solve the quarrel between her and Sundaramurthi, Siva went to her house
as messenger for two times, by foot!

Siva - Vanmika Nathar.

Uma - Alliyam poonkothai.

Holy Waters - Kamalalayam.

Holy Tree - Bhilva Tree.

சித்தம் தெளிவீர்காள், அத்தன் ஆரூரைப்
பத்தி மலர்தூவ, முத்தி யாகுமே.

Make the heart clear and serene.  Pray to the Father in Tiruvarur, with
flowers of devotion and attain liberation.

The following verse and the Padigam has been composed and sung by Tiru Jnana
Sambandhar, on Siva in the temple of Tiruveezhimizhalai.  This is in Saiva
Canon 1.92. The Padigam is in tiru irukku kural meter. (couplets).

This was sung in Tiruveezhimizhalai.  The location of the temple, name of Siva,
Uma, the holy tree, holy waters have already been given under another
Padigam on Tiruveezhimizhalai

This particular Padigam was sung in the following circumstances:

Saint Tiru Jnana Sambandhar and Saint Tirunavukkarasar were in
Tiuveezhimizhalai, they were receiving gold coins, each one from Siva.
These coins were exchanged in the market to get rice and vegetables for
feeding the drought stricken people of the area.  Among the two coins
the one received by Jnana Sambandhar was a little impure with copper mix.
The saint was told by God that he was receiving  copper mixed coin since
he was only singing songs in praise of Him, but Tiru Navukkarasar
was singing songs and he was also doing manual labor by cleaning the temple
precincts. Then Tiru Jnana Sambandhar sang to Siva to give pure gold coins since
the copper mixed ones were not readily taken in the market. This is the Padigam
(one verse from it) where Jnana Sambandhar asked Siva to give copper less gold coins.

செய்ய மேனியீர், மெய்கொள் மிழலையீர்
பைகொள் அரவினீர், உய்ய நல்குமே.

O the Red bodied! The Truth in Tiruveezhimizhalai! wearing the serpent
with a baggy face! Confer me the way to attain You!
