This is from Tiru Dasangam (ten properties of a king or God like name, country, town, river, mountain, horse, weapon, war drum,
garlands, and flag.  This is from Tiruvachakam, 19.2.

O emerald like beauty with blemishless words, please tell me the Dasangam of our Lord who is the owner of the seven worlds.
Now please tell me His country.  His country is Pandya country which is in South (Tamizh Nadu).  There He will,  for ardent
devotees, shower His love and rules over  and grace  for ever.

Arunachala Siva.

This verse is again from Tiru Dasangam, 19.5.

O cute red mouthed parrot!  The blemishless Lord of Tiruperundurai - what is His mountain?
In the Heart, clearing all the darkness, and giving mukti, - that is His mountain - mukti aruLum malai!

Mukti aruLum malai is Tiruvannamalai!

Arunachala Siva.

This is from Tiru paLLi ezhuchhi, Tiruvachakam, 20.  5.

In the month of Dhanur (Margazhi), people in Tamizh Nadu sing both Tiruvembavai and Tiru paLLi ezhucchi>

Even though you are in all elements, poets says that you are neither going nor coming anywhere. (You are achalam, without
movement of going and coming.).  We shall only sing melodious songs and dance, but we have not heard anyone saying that
he has seen You and known You.  O Lord of Tiruperundurai with cool paddy fields.  You are beyond thought. Please however,
come before us and remove our difficulties and rule over us grace us.  O Lord !  Please wake up !

Arunachala Siva.

This is from Koil Mootha Tirupadigam (Elder Decad of Koil) in Tiruvachakam, 21. 9.

On seeing your Dance in Kanaka Sabha, some devotees will smile, some will enjoy, some will utter your great Name in detail
which is like honey.  They will also tell your various Names and do namaskarams.  Some others will listen to your Names and praise
You.   O the Lord of Golden Hall of Consciousness, should I remain in their company like a dog not knowing any of your greatness.  Please trust me and confer me bhakti.

Arunachala Siva.

This verse is also from Koil Tirupadigam, Tiruvachakam, 21.8:

If you do not grace me, who will tell me here, this devotee, 'Do not fear'. You also treated me a worthy devotee, and took
residence into my Heart, O Golden colored Siva, who dances in the Ponambalam, the Golden Hall of Consciousness, (Kanaka Sabha).
I am in the midst of those who are in delusion and suffer. Will you also not call me 'Come' and remove my delusion and place
me with your delusion-less devotees?   If I die without your grace, the people would laugh at my plight.

Arunachala Siva.

This gem of a verse is from Koil Tirupadigam (the younger decad on Koil) which Sri Bhagavan used to quote for ardent bhakti,
in which the ego becomes smaller and smaller and then finally of atomic size and then disappears!

Today You have graced me and removed the darkness (ignorance) from me like the Sun which removes the darkness.
The way of Your great form - I think and think without any other thoughts.
I found that there is none other than You.
My jivahood (ego) became smaller and smaller and became and atom and then disappeared.
And I had union with You.
O Lord of Tiruperundurai, O Siva,
There is only One that is You and nothing else.
Who can know this state of my union with You.

Arunachala Siva.

This is a verse from SetthilA Pathu (Decad on Not Yet Dying) in Tiruvachakam, 23. 4.

Many who have become Your ardent devotees do rare tapas,
Ayan (Brahma) and MAl (Vishnu) melts like wax,
Some devotees always think of You and become bony
When all such devotees are like this with great tapas and bhakti,
how come you have took charge of me and ruled over me?
My mind is like an thick dead wood,
My eyes are like wood nails, my ears are stronger than iron.
O Lord of TiruparaithuRai, the Lord of Sivaloka,
O Siva who resides in the holy Tiruperundurai.

(TiruparaithuRai is near Tiruchirapalli where there is a Siva Temple.  Here is where Swami Chidbavananda has got his
Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam and he is the compiler of Tayumanavar songs.)

This is a gem of a verse from Tiruvembavai, Tiruvachakam, 7.20.
This is a literal Pada Maalai, but the flowers are padam and not the poet's verse!

Praise to You. Please grace us.  Your flowery feet are the beginning of everything.

Praise to You. Please grace us.  Your reddish flowery feet are the end of everything.

Praise to You. Please grace us.  Your golden feet are the place of creation of all living beings.

Praise to You. Please grace us.  Your flowery anklet wearing feet are the cause of enjoyment for all living beings.

Praise to You. Please grace us.  Your two feet are the final aim - (refuge) for all living beings.

Praise to You. Please grace us. You lotus like feet have not been seen by Vishnu and four faced Brahma.

Praise to You. Please grace us.  Your golden flowery feet only take over us and rule over us.

Praising them, (O girls!) let us go (and bathe) in this early morning of Margazhi.

This verse is from Tiruvammanai, Tiruvachakam 8.8.
'Ammanai' is again a game in which mother rocks the child on her lap.  Or it may also mean playing with marbles and tamarind
seeds by girls.

This verse speaks some life incidents of Saint Manikkavachagar.

You wrote a melodious verse to Banapathiran and made him get a prize from the Pandyan King.
You are having half the form of Uma, you are my Lord and who stays in Perundurai.
You are having the glory of controlling all 5 elements including the Space. You are the Lord of all.
You are having an eye on your forehead and in Madurai
You carried sand (to stop the flooding Vaigai) and you had the beating by the King.*
You carried a wound because of the beating. Let us sing His glory, Ammanai!

(*When Manikkavachagar was Minister in Pandyan Kingdom, he was asked to go the east coast and buy some
Arabic horses which are sold by the overseas Arabic merchants.  He was also given gold for the same.  When
the saint went to the east coast, he was taken over and ruled over by Siva who sat near under the Kurundai
tree and Siva gave him pada diksha and hasta diksha.  He was then told by Siva to build the temple of Tiruperundurai.
The saint forgot all about purchase of horses and spent the gold for building Tiruperunudurai temple.  When the
messengers told the king that the saint was not buying horses but building the temple with the money given by him,
the saint was brought back, beaten and imprisoned.  He was asked to stand on the hot sands of dry Vagai.  Then the king
had a dream that he would get the horses next day.  Siva himself came with nice herd of Arabic horses and handed
over them to the King.  The horses were kept in stable.  They became jackals and breaking open the stable ran away
at midnight.  The king again beat the saint and imprisoned him.  Suddenly there were flash floods in Vaigai and the king
ordered that every citizen should take some basket of sands and throw it at the river bank and to prevent the floods from
reaching the city.  There was one old lady called Pittuvani who had no strength to do that work on her behalf.  Siva
came and told the Pittuvani and asked for some Pittu (rice / jaggery sweetmeat) so that He would do the work on her
behalf.  He took the pittu but was nicely lying on the bank of Vaigai without doing the work.  The King came and saw this
and beat Him.  The beating was felt by all the citizens including the King.  The Siva appeared before him and told the king
that Manikkavachagar is harmless and he had done only a good work by building the temple at Tiruperundurai.  The
King sought His pardon and prostrated before Him.  The flash floods suddenly stopped and everything became normal.

The saint when released told the King that he would no longer be fit for any ministerial job and so he left Madruai to
various Siva temples and sang songs and at Chidamabram, he merged with Siva as a flame while everyone including the
Chozha King saw the miracle.)

The gem of this verse is from Tiru thellenam, Tiruvachakam, 11.9.
Tiru thellenam is a game of two sticks called kolAttam in Tamizh.

He has like shredding the stone, transformed me with His grace.
I shall sing His golden anklet and He has taken over me and ruled over me.
I shall sing for ever His glory.
With the waist as slender like a lightning and with lips like red  toor dal, and smile with white teeth,
O girls, let us play the game (of kolAttam) singing O Southerner, O Southerner.*

(*Southerner literally means man from South.  It is here meaning Siva of Tiruperundurai which is in South Eastern Coast
of Tamizh Nadu.)

This verse is from Tiru Poovalli, Tiruvachakam, 13.13.  Poovalli means the flower creeper.

On that day, He sat under the shade of Banyan tree and taught the four vedas.
The gods and rishis everyday stand before Him and praise.
He is having tinkling anklet in His feet.  Let us pluck the konRai  flowers
with its pollen, for His garland by singing His glory.

This is from kaNda Pathu - Decad on Darshan.  This is in Tiruvachakam, 31.4.

This lowly dog is unlearned, only with incorrect learning,
You came made me to know all the spiritual learning and made  me shine.
With everyone seeing, You have come (in Tiruperundurai) and removed my pasu and pasam (jivahood and worldly consciousness).
I saw Him in Tillai Hall of Consciousness, where all devotees pray and seek salvation.

This is a verse from SetthilA pathu (Decad on Not Yet Dying), Tiruvachakam, 23.2.

Some devotees have done long tapas that the anthills sprouted around their bodies and they looked as anthills.
Some stood and did tapas and they looked like a tree fossilized from human body.
Some took only water and air and became emaciated.  Then there are gods and heavenly angels
Who have not yet seen your flowery feet.
O Lord!  You ruled over me by teaching a word  (Namasivaya) and held me with You.
But I am still not horripilated, nor my mind had melted.
I have still not left this body nor ceased to care for it.
I am still not dead and am still roaming in the world.
O Lord of Tiruperundurai!

He appears like a beautiful bride groom everyday, i.e., quite beautiful and well adorned.  He is full of beauty.
He is ever in my Heart, O Mother!
The One who is ever in my Heart, is eternal, blissful and resides in Tiruperundurai, in South, O Mother!

O the beautiful bliss producing Koel, He (Siva) like a Sun spreading its rays all around,
He will remain in Space and comes down to the earth to remove the desires of devotees,
He is in the beginning, middle, and end and the three (Indra, Brahma, Vishnu) do not know Him,
He has got the feet with chinturam (red paste) and O Koel please call Him the servant of devotees.
