Living in this material world
« on: March 23, 2013, 12:02:01 PM »

We live in this world, and there are practical problems like food, shelter etc. There are also other problems like (desire for) prestige, success, recognition - I am assuming these should be thrown out of our heads. Must we live a simple life taking care of basic necessities alone and forget about being successful, getting fame etc. etc.? Else, we may become distracted by the world and lose sight of our real purpose, which is self-realization.

Is my attitude correct?

Dear silence,.

One cannot live like Sri Bhagavan or Sri Seshadri Swamigal taking alms and wearing a loin cloth.  So we must have some money
and for that we should earn money. Without being very greedy, one can do a good job in an office or factory, and earn some money,
live a simple life and then do the self inquiry.  Instead  of many cell phones, one can have only one cell phone. And say, about six
shirts and trousers or six sarees and blouses and  inners. One can have simple vegetarian food. Like these we can limit our wants.
These will help us not to crave for more money.
