Durga Pooja Celebrations:- (5)
« on: October 03, 2008, 10:57:02 AM »
When Bhagavan was in the Hills, one day, his stomach was not
alright and He wanted to fast for the whole day.  While He was
strolling on the Hills, suddenly seven women, who were having
baskets for picking dry leaves and twigs, came to Him and asked
for water to drink.  Bhagavan gave them water and after drinking,
they invited Him to take some food also.  Bhagavan was never
refusing any offering, and He was given some gruel and other items.
He continued the stroll.  Again these seven women appeared before
Him around 3 p.m., asked for water and after drinking water and
washing their faces, they started eating and again invited Him for
taking food.  Bhagavan again had to consent and He took a share
of some more gruel and other food.  Bhagavan casually looked at
their baskets and they were empty without any dry leaves and twigs!
Then for what purpose had they come?  He was wondering!

Mother Unnamulai had sent her seven maidens (Sapta Kanya) to
feed Her son!  For Her son, Skanda, had to eat more food to cure
His stomach upset!  What a Grace!  Mother Uma is the personification
of Grace and it is She, who feeds the whole universe, with the two
measures of rice given by Her husband, Siva!   Siva is a madcap
because, after giving His wife, two measures of rice, for feeding the
entire universe, He went out for begging!  I believe this is a fit
thought on this day of Durga Pooja Celebrations.

Saint Manikkavachagar sings in Tiruvachakam:

I see Thillai, Chidambaram, full of nice palaces and flourishing wealth,
Where everybody is fed stomach-full, on every day!

Arunachala Siva.
