HE ASKED FOR CHARITY

God came to my house and asked for charity.
And I fell on my knees and cried, "Beloved,
what may I give?"
"Just love," He said.
"Just love."

The sum total of our life is a breath
spent in the company of the Beloved.

With her for guide, you shall never go astray;
while invoking her, you shall never lose heart;
so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception;
while she holds your hand, you cannot fall;
under her protection you have nothing to fear;
if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary;
if she shows you favor, you shall reach the goal.

Bernard of Clairvaux

In the dead of night, a Sufi began to weep.
He said, "This world is like a closed coffin, in which
We are shut and in which, through our ignorance,
We spend our lives in folly and desolation.
When Death comes to open the lid of the coffin,
Each one who has wings will fly off to Eternity,
But those without will remain locked in the coffin.
So, my friends, before the lid of this coffin is taken off,
Do all you can to become a bird of the Way to God;
Do all you can to develop your wings and your feathers.

Just beyond us we see that purple luster - how glorious!
With His noble crown of peacock feathers stitched together.
As you look upon Him, fever and illusion vanish
Adore then the Prince of the Yadavas, the Lord of Yogis.
He who filled with passion the sixteen thousand royal damsels,
Fair Creatures, divine maidens.
He stands upon the river bank with the luster of one million moons.
It is fastened in jewels on His neck
And merges into the luster of His form.

The city of God

Grieve not is the name of my town.
Pain and fear cannot enter there,
Free from possessions, free from life's taxes,
Free from fear of disease and death
After much wandering I have come back home
Where the wheel of time and change turns not,
And my Emperor rules, without a second or third,
In Abadan, filled with love and wisdom.
Where the natives are rich in the wealth of the heart,
Where all live ever free in the City of God,
Listen to Ravidas, just a cobbler:
All who live here are my true friends.

Ravidas

To play,to sing,to speak,to ask,to walk,to talk
With Your devotees is joyous harmony.
As long as i have
a gift of love from You,
May i spend my days in the company of Your devotees,
O Lord Channamallikarjuna,
O,Lord,White as Jasmine.

What good is a tree,without shade?
What good is wealth,without kindness?
What good is a cow,without milk?
What good is beauty without grace?
What good is a weapon,without the mind?
What good am i without knowing You,
O,Lord,White as jasmine?

When I am asleep and crumbling in the tomb, should you come
to visit me, I will come forth with speed.
You are for me the blast of the trumpet and the resurrection,
so what shall I do? Dead or living, wherever you are, there am I.
Without your lip I am a frozen and silent reed; what melodies
I play the moment you breathe on me!
Your reed has become accustomed to your sugar lip;
remember wretched me, for I am seeking only you.

My mother was fortune, my father generosity and bounty;
I  am joy,
son of joy, son of joy, son of joy!

Whatever work you have to do, do it with a singleness of purpose,
with all the simplicity, contentment and joy you are capable of.

Wait,wait,O hunger,
Wait,wait,O Thirst,
Wait,wait,O sleep,
Wait,wait,O desire,
Wait,wait,O anger,
Wait,wait,O delusion,
Wait,wait,O pride,
Wait,wait,O greed,
Wait,wait,O strife,-
All of you ,moving and unmoving,
Wait,wait! I am awaiting an urgent call
from my Lord Channamallikarjuna,
from my Lord,White as Jasmine.

  We could go wherever we want,we could do whatever we wish,
yet,that is not freedom. True freedom is God's freedom-
When we are free from the thirany of thoughts. When we are at peace.
Then,we are always involved in prayer,expecting only help from God,
And whatever we are doing,we are doing it from our conscience,
From the depth of our hearts,with our whole being.
And do not be in war with anyone,do not fight unjust wars with your thoughts.
Do not bother what others are doing,but be watchfull of your own behaviour.
Watch closely only yourself,and see,
Do you forgive,or you judge,
Do you comfort and love.

There is no weapon more powerful and stronger than Love,
 There is no power which can stand against Love's might.
In front of Love,all crumbles.
