O heart, what a wonderful bird you are.
Seeking divine heights,
Flapping your wings,
you smashed the pointed spears of your enemy.

The flowers flee from Autumn, but not you -
You are the fearless rose
that grows amidst the freezing wind.

Rumi

'Let my prayer arise"

You must be imaginative,strong-hearted.
You must try things that may not work,
and you must not let anyone define your limits,
because of where you come from
your only limit is your Soul.

Do not use
Wu Hsin's words
As a platform for
Launching new concepts.
Instead, listen deeply,
Apperceive and then
Forget.
Do not store the words away.
Let them penetrate you,
As would an arrow.

You don't know what is good.
You only know
What is good for you.
Tomorrow, that might change.
Then, good will become bad and
You will claim to know it.
All this, however, is relative.
What is good for you
Might be bad for me.
What is good for you today,
Might be bad for you tomorrow.
Wouldn't it be better
To leave the judging
To the fools?

If there is a certain notion that you have direct 'Realization,'
it is only the delusion of a confused mind.
This confusion is only the enhancement of the Illusion that is already there.
It is the spectacle, the festival of Illusion.
Every so-called 'Realization' is Illusion.

Take it for granted that
while the man in the iron cuffs will thank someone who frees him from them,
the man with golden cuffs will pounce on the throat of anyone who tries to free him.

Oh Ma Kali, for a long time now

Oh Ma Kali, for a long time now
          You've masqueraded in this world
          as a clown.
But I am punished inside
          and there's nothing funny about Your jokes.
Oh Ma, sometimes You're the air we breathe,
          sometimes the sky in the seventh underworld
          furthest away, and
sometimes the water in the sea
          You assume so many forms!
I have traveled to countless lands
and worn countless costumes; even so,
          Your marvels -- ha! -- never cease.

Premik says,
My mind is a cad; that's why it's sunk
in attachments. Why else
          would these tricks of Yours
               keep working?

The breeze of Spring has turned the buds into blossoms ;
The clouds have passed by
Having sprinkled the earth with raindrops ;
The roses are caressed by the light of the moon.
A youthful woman, full of enchanting grace and joy
Meets me in the solitude
And approaches smiling, looking at me.
But the magic of beauty and youth
Make no impression on the Yogi
Who has burn up pleasure-desires in one great thought.
How could she hold a candle to the sun ?
She withdrew covered with shame.
I am the life of all youth ;
I am the beauty of the sun and moon.
Thousands had come to worship and to serve,
The King was waving the fan over my head,
The Ministers lovingly washed my feet?
Many adorers were there.
?You are the greatest incarnation,
? they cried ; I laughed at their adoration ;
? Not only great but small too am I,
I am all?do not limit me.?
They assail me with their pleasantries,
They hurl veiled invectives,
They throw stones at me.
My face bleeds, my head is wounded,
But still a smile plays on my lips ;
For I am the life of this play,
I support this game as well.
Mid-night in January ; darkness everywhere ;
The Himalayan snows cover the land.
A fresh storm breaks?it ceases
And the strong, cold biting wind blows.
My body shakes like a willow,
But there is strength in my heart and laughter in my eyes,
For I am the life of the cold,
I am the energy of the elements.
A lovely forest, full of wonders !
In search of food I gaze around me, and lo !
My eyes fall on a wandering lion ;
I look at him steadily?he turns quietly away.
Divinity expresses Itself through the eye.
I am the energy of lions,
I am the life in all.
The boat is caught in a storm ;
The wind races with tremendous speed ;
Breakers crash to right and left,
and lightening strikes here and there.
I stand smiling, holding the mast like a flute,
courage ruling my heart,
I am the life of the storm ;
I am the foundation of the elements.
Dysentery and fever shake the body,
But like a rare wine the spiritual experience revives me.
I sing, defying illness,
The body is a line on water,
If it dies I am not affected,
Because I am the water.
I am the forms and figures of the world,
I am Rama, the life of all.

Swami Rama Tirtha

Force of Friendship

Remember the mouse on the riverbank?
There's a love-string stretching into the water
hoping for the frog.

Suddenly a raven grips the mouse and flies off.
The frog too, from the river bottom,
with one foot entangled in the invisible string,
follows, suspended in the air.

Amazed faces ask,
"When did a raven ever go underwater and catch a frog?"
The frog answers, "This is the force of Friendship."
What draws friends together does not conform to Laws of Nature.
Form doesn't know about spiritual closeness.

If a grain of barley approaches a grain of wheat,
an ant must be carrying it. A black ant on black felt.
You can't see it, but if grains go toward each other,
it's there.

A hand shifts our birdcages around.
Some are brought closer. Some move apart.
Do not try to reason it out. Be conscious
of who draws you and who not.

Gabriel was always there with Jesus, lifting him
above the dark-blue vault, the night-fortress world,
just as the raven of longing carries the flying frog.

The Waterwheel

Stay together, friends.
Don't scatter and sleep.

Our friendship is made
of being awake.

The waterwheel accepts water
and turns and gives it away,
weeping.

That way it stays in the garden,
whereas another roundness rolls
through a dry riverbed looking
for what it thinks it wants.

Stay here, quivering with each moment
like a drop of mercury.

I don't want learning,or dignity,
or respectability.
I want this music,
and this dawn,
and the warmth of your cheek
against mine.

Lord of strength, be with us!

You who help us in our sorrows.
Lord of strength, be with us!
God of ours, have mercy on us!

Praise and Glorify the name of the Lord,Praise Him  and testify His power.
Lord of strength, be with us!

Glorify Him because of His Might,
Praise him because of his multitude of greatness-es.
Lord of strength, be with us!

Praise and Glorify Him with voice of trumpets, Praise Him with Psalms.
Lord of strength, be with us!

Praise Him with song and music.
Lord of strength, be with us!

Praise Him with cymbals and good hearted voices, praise Him,
Praise Him with exclamations: every living soul should glorify the Lord.
Lord of strength, be with us:

Praise the Lord in all holiness, Praise Him in statement of His power.
Lord of strength, be with us:

Oh Lord, If we do not have Your holy prayer books,
and the knowledge how to pray, and the goodness of all saints who pray for us;
what would we do oh our Saviour, we who sing to you?!

You are glorified all time by Angels.
Seer of all hearts, have mercy on our souls.

Many are my prayers oh Holy Theotokos / (Virgin Mary),
 I have come to you the most pure, praying for rescue.

Come to me who am weak and unworthy,
and pray to Your Son and and Our Lord,
to grant me Forgiveness,
You who are most Blessed among Mankind.

Oh you most Holy Theotokos, You alone intercede on my behalf,
so Have Mercy on Me!

All my hope I give to you, Oh Mother of God,
Take me under your Shelter.

This is the Rusian chant,first one from above,one of my favorites.
Maybe tranlation is not so good,but it conveys the message.

You assist an evil system most effectively
by obeying its orders and decrees.
An evil system never deserves such allegiance.
Allegiance to it means partaking of the evil.
A good person will resist an evil system with his or her whole soul.

Humility, sincerity, non-violence, patience, virtue, devotion to the spiritual teacher, purity, stability, self-control;

Dispassion toward the objects of the senses, absence of egotism, keeping in view the sorrows of birth, death, old age, disease, and suffering;

Non-attachment, not clinging even to one's child, wife, home, and the like; and a constant even-mindedness regarding pleasant or unpleasant experiences;

Unswerving devotion to me, relying upon yoga, preferring solitary places, and disliking the excessive company of others;

Constantly engaged in the knowledge of the Self, keeping the goals of truth and Self-knowledge in sight; this is the path of wisdom. Anything opposed to this is ignorance.

Bhagavad Gita(13:7?11)

In order to show His mercy to His devotees,
He with assuming a humanlike body engages in amorous pastimes,
hearing about which one becomes devoted to Him.

Srimad Bhagavatam
Canto 10;chapter33/37

He greets His well-wishing friends while slightly rolling His eyes as if He is intoxicated.
With His garland of forest flowers, with His face paled like a jujube plum ,
with the soft line of His cheeks and with the beauty of the golden earrings adorning Him,
He is the Lord of the Yadus, the Lord sporting just like the lord of the elephants.
His joyful face is like the moon, the lord of the night,
who at the end of the day drives away the infinite sorrow of the cows and the gopis of Vraja
after the heat of the daytime.

Srimad Bhagavatam
Canto 10;chapter 34/25,26

Let none regret that they were difficult to convince!
I fought my Master for six years with the result that I know every inch of the way!
Every inch of the way!
And so, you see my devotion is the dog's devotion.
I have been wrong so often and he has always been right,
and now I trust his judgement blindly.

My teacher, my master, my hero, my ideal, my God in life.
