Looking in at
What is looking out,
Ends all seeking and
The seeker.

Be not afraid
To break all forms with love
I say --
Let nightingales sing in the rose of your heart.

This final service I have now performed
-- so free me of embraces
Of all that I agreed to
before I came.

There is a desert
I long to be walking,
a wide emptiness:

peace beyond any
understanding of it.

I used to have fiery intensity
and a flowing sweetness.

The waters were illusion.
The flames, made of snow.

Was I dreaming then?
Am I awake now?

Lovers think they?re looking for each other,
but there's only one search:
wandering this world is wandering that,
both inside one transparent sky.
In here there is
no dogma and no heresy.
The miracle of Jesus is himself, not what he said
or did about the future. Forget the future.
I'd worship someone who could do that.
On the way you may want to look back, or not.
But if you can say, There?s nothing ahead,
there will be nothing there.
Stretch your arms
and take hold the cloth of your clothes
with both hands. The cure for pain is in the pain.
Good and bad are mixed. If you don't have both,
you don't belong with us.
When one of us gets lost,
is not here, he must be inside us. There's no
place like that anywhere in the world.

Come to my house late at night -
Do not be shy.
Hafiz will be barefoot and dancing
I will be
In such a grand and generous mood!
Come to my door at any hour,
Even if your eyes
Are frightened by my light.
My heart and arms are open
And need no rest -
They will always welcome you.
Come in my dear,
From the harsh world
That has rained elements of stone
Upon your tender face.
Every soul
Should receive a toast from us
For bravery!
Bring all the bottles of wine you own
To this divine table - the earth
We share.
If your cellar is empty,
This whole Universe
Could drink forever
From mine!
Let's dine tonight with exquisite music.
I might even hire angels
To play - just for you.
Look!
Hidden beneath your feet
Is a Luminous Stage
Where we are meant to rehearse
Our Eternal Dance!
And what price is the price
of my Divine Instruction?
What could I ask of you?
All I could ever want
Is that
You have the priceless company
of Someone
Who can Kiss God,
That you have the priceless gift
Of becoming a servant to the Friend!
Come to my window, dear world -
Why ever be shy?
Look inside my playful Verse,
For Hafiz is Barefoot and Dancing
And in such a Grand and Generous -
In such a Fantastic Mood.

Hafiz

Two men from Guo come to
Listen to Wu Hsin speak
About spontaneity and
How it is
The natural way.
They tell Wu Hsin that
They understand and that
It is their intention
To be spontaneous.
Intending to be
Spontaneous,
They haven't heard
A single word I say.

In order for insight to blossom,
It is not what one does that matters.
What matters is
What one stops doing.

None the action that is my own.
All here art verily Thine.
My body, wealth and life I gave Thee.
Do Thou dispel all the impurities in my mind, my Lord.
Whatever Thou think proper,
Do Thou according grant.
That sure which is just and meet.

must wait a very, very long time.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Hold onto the path of holding onto the one who has no attachments.
By holding onto this path of holding on, you rid yourself of [those attachments]
that hold you to the world.

If you go on working with the light available,
you will meet your Master,
as he himself will be seeking you.
