Ken Wilber?
« on: May 21, 2012, 11:57:23 AM »
Friends

Have anyone read Ken Wilber fairly well? What is the opinion of this group on his ideas? His ideas are very advaita in nature - at least in an excerpt I read.

Thanks / Sanjay

Dear sanjaya_ganesh,

Ken Wilber (b. 1949) is said to be a master of all ideas his favorite field being psychotherapy and psychiatry. But he has
written a good number of books, on subjects of mysticism, psycho analysis, behavioral pattern of human beings etc.,

His theory is all human beings can be classified as a) ego centric b) ethnocentric c) world centric and d) Being centric.
He loosely calls the group (d) as self realized or mystics.

Many books of him are published by Shambala Publications, Mumbai.

He however, never seems to mention about Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi.

Dear Subramanian

He does. He wrote this essay on Bhagawan called Sage of the Century - http://www.kenwilber.com/Writings/PDF/ForewordSageoftheCentury_OTHERS_2000.pdf

Here he says with utmost respect to Bhagawan that if he was left alone in a dessert and asked which is the ONE book he want to possess - he would say "Talks with Ramana Maharshi". Good essay above from him

Dear sanjaya_ganesh,

Thank you for the information.  I browsed some of his books in the shop here in Bangalore. I did not find the book
mentioned by you.
