However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them? - Buddha

Which is the best question?
The question "What is the way to get Krishna?s grace?"

Which is the best answer to this question?
Chanting the Maha mantra always?

Which day is the auspicious day in one?s life?
The day a person eschews judging other?s faults and advising others and starts to observe himself to get better.

What is the cause of confusion?
Rather than doing what is to be done here and now, thinking about tomorrow is cause of confusion

What is the greatest mistake of a Sadhak?
Looking at the clock while he chants!

Kazhar chinga Nayanar: Guru Puja - Vaikasi Bharani star day.

Today is the Guru Puja of Kazharsinga Nayanar. He was a Pallava King devoted to Siva.  One day he \went to
the temple to pay obeisance to Siva. The queen also accompanied him. While he was circumambulating along
with the queen, the queen went forward and in the mantapam, she saw the flowers on a heap and garlands
were being made. She found one flower on the floor and this had fallen on the floor from the heap. She kneeled
down and picked up the flower and smelled it. Chruthunai Nayanar another Siva devotee, who was in the mantapam
saw this and since the queen had smelled the flower intended for Siva, he came rushing and cut off her nose!
The queen fell down bleeding. Kazharsinga Nayanar who came from behind looked angrily and Cheruthunai
Nayanar told the news.  The king took his sword and cut off the queen's hand too since it was the hand that
had taken the fallen flower.

Siva appeared before them and took them to His Abode for the king's noble deed showing the importance of
flowers intended for Siva.

Ashram Veda Patsala established nearly eighty years ago has come of age. It has now become the first recognized test centre in Tiruvannamalai district. Prior to this it was necessary for students to go to Chennai or other far-off places to take the examination to prove competency in Vedic chanting. Recently seventy-five students belonging to Yajur Veda, Rig Veda and Sama Veda appeared for competency test at the ashram Veda Patasala. Six external examiners came for administering the tests. Graduates were honored in a convocation ceremony at the ashram auditorium. Sri Ramana Maharshi not only became deeply in-drawn when listening to Vedas but he also insisted on punctuality. Once when the priests were waiting for a late comer he remarked that ?Vedas don?t wait for anybody?.

Dear atmavichar,

Regarding Veda Patasala in the Asramam and its completion of 80 years, at this juncture, one cannot but
think of Major Chadwick who played a prominent role, in establishing Veda Patasala and also the Sri Chakra
Puja.  He used to listen Veda Parayanam with rapt attention in the Asramam.

Friends,
An excerpt from The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna:
PUNDIT: "Is there no way for us then?"
MASTER: "Yes, there is the path of discrimination. In a song occurs the line: 'Ask her son Discrimination about the Truth.'
"The way lies through discrimination, renunciation, and passionate yearning for God. Unless a man practises discrimination, he cannot utter the right words. One time, after expounding religion at great length, Pundit Samadhyayi said, 'God is dry.' He reminded me of the man who once said, 'My uncle's cow-shed is full of horses.' Now, does anyone keep horses in a cowshed? (With a smile) You have become like a chānābarā fried in butter. Now it will be good for you and for others as well, if you are soaked in syrup a few days.Just a few days."
PUNDIT (smiling): "The sweetmeat is over-fried. It has become charred."
MASTER (with a laugh): "No! No! It is brown as a cockroach. Just the right colour."
HAZRA: "The sweetmeat is well cooked. It has become spongy. Now it will soak up the syrup nicely."
MASTER: "You see, there is no need to read too much of the scriptures. If you read too much you will be inclined to reason and argue. Nangta used to teach me thus: What you get by repeating the word 'Gita' tell times is the essence of the book. In other words, if you repeat 'Gita' ten times it is reversed into 'tagi', which indicates renunciation.
"Yes, the way to realize God is through discrimination, renunciation, and yearning for Him. What kind of yearning? One should yearn for God as the cow, with yearning heart, runs after its calf."
PUNDIT: "The same thing is said in the Vedas: 'O God, we call on Thee as the cow lows for the calf.'"
MASTER: "Add your tears to your yearning. And if you can renounce everything through discrimination and dispassion, then you will be able to see God. That yearning brings about God-intoxication, whether you follow the path of knowledge or the path of devotion. The sage Durvasa was mad with the Knowledge of God.

Namaskar

Friends,
In verse 23 of akshara mana malai, sri Bhagavan says:

கையினிற் கனியுன் மெய்ரசங் கொண்டுவ
        கைவெறி கொளவரு ளருணாசலா.

உவகை வெறி=Intoxication

Like tasting the fruit in hand,Grace me the intoxication of thy true essence,Oh Arunachala!

This is what Sri Ramakrishna asdvises in that excerpt from The Gospel-and he also affirms that yearning brings about this intoxication. He says in his homely way-
" Now it will be good for you and for others as well, if you are soaked in syrup a few days.Just a few days."

Namaskar
