Onset of the spirit of enquiry
« on: December 11, 2011, 07:44:05 PM »
dear colleagues,
many spiritual works like the Ribhu Gita speak aboout the importance of the onset of enquiry as an important milestone in the spiritual evolution of man.
Forn what I could understand,I feel that it marks the moment when the Jiva seeing its suffering due to cause and effect over many lives, begins to introspect over the cause of its sufferings, which is the beginning of enquiry. It seems to be a randomly caused event but since God does not pay dice, one may say that every Jiva at some point of the cause and effect cycle is made to realise  the ephimeral nature of things by definite experiences dictated by the supreme intelligence. .
Further this landmark, earmarks a definite beginning of a sustained effort towards self realisation .

Dear Anand Sundaram,

Yes. This onset of enquiry comes with Vairagya (dispassion) and Viveka (discrimination between good and bad) and then comes
Mumukshatvam (desire for liberation). This Mumukshatvam is the first stage.  Viveka Choodamani speaks about these steps vividly.
