Practice of self enquiry
« on: September 19, 2011, 09:20:27 PM »
Dear friends,
A thought occured to me that what would  happen if we were to practice self enquiry imperfectly, and our lives were to end at some point ,without the correct mode of self enquiry ever practiced.
I feel that Bhagavan' grace will sustain us and at some point - in some forthcoming life or lives- we will be guided towards self enquiry correctly for final emancipation.
I would like others also to comment on the same.
Regards,Anand.,

I believe, if one practices sincerely, after a year or so, one will be set on right path. The best example is like jumping into water without knowing how to swim, eventually - one swims. Or driving a motorbike on a very thin line, in the beginning one tends to go to left or right around that thin line, but eventually without noticing, one is already riding without swerving sideways. So here too, one should not think about past or future lives, or even about emancipation but steadily rest in practice.

Dear Anand,

There is nothing to worry, Krishna says in BG -

स्वल्पमस्य धर्मस्य त्रायते महतो भयात्

There is no loss of effort in this yoga (Practice). Even if it is stopped in the middle(due to various samsara problems), no harm is produced. Even a little of this knowledge, even a little practice of this yoga(Practice), protects man from great fear.

A litttle bit of practice or even no practice, even the thought of God or even if it is just a passing thought about Self Enquiry, it benefits.

Moreover, Krishna also assures as follows - (already posted under topic "Daily Mssage from AHAM, Repy 206)

Even if our lives were to end, Krishna says in BG -

He who has fallen from Yoga, obtains the higher words to which men of meritorious deeds alone are entitled and having resided there thereafter take birth in a house of the pious or wealthy

Or he is born in the amily of enlightened Yogis itself; but to get such a birth in this worlf is very difficult

O Kurunandana, He regains in that borth the spiritual insight of his previous birth and through that he strives harder than ever for perfection!

He feels drawn towards God by force of the habit acquired in his previous birth, even the seeker of enlightenment on yoga rises above the actions prescribed by the word of the Vedas

The Yogi However, who diligently takes up the pratice attains perfection in this very life, with the help of inheritance from many births and being thoroughly purged of sin, then reaches the SUPREME STATE

Salutations to Bhagavan

Dear Anand,

Whatever efforts you have put in, whatever progress you have made
in sadhana, the same will be carried over to the next birth to pursue
further. No need to start from Step 1.
