Source of I
« on: September 16, 2011, 01:36:33 PM »
Dear All,

Nochur Sri Venkatraman, in Hridaya Vidya (while explaning Bhagawan's self enquiry), says that the source of I has to be traced.
1) The thoughts one have can be traced back to the "I" using the "Who am I" question - to bring the attention from thoughts back to the thinker.
But once our attention is established in the realm of "I" already - how to trace back to the source of I, from here?

Ramakrishnan.

Dear Ramakrishnan,

Yes. I is already in the source. But the I is also the mind/ego.  It jumps
out away from the source, the Self, like a restless monkey, and runs
after worldly objects, emotions, passions, lust, thinking happiness
lies there. When this little I is withdrawn and made to abide in the Self,
the Source, permanently, it is all Bliss, nothing can be compared in
 the world to this Bliss.

The glimpse of the Bliss, a little bit of it, is already given to us in the
deep sleep.  In deep sleep the mind is with the Self, at  least temporarily,
where is there is no greed, no passion, no fear, no hate, no pain nor
pleasure.  This state should be attained permanently by withdrawing the
mind permanently into the Source.

Arunachala Siva.
