Rough patches in life
« on: September 11, 2011, 05:04:50 PM »
Dear friends,
Sometimes there are situations in life when things seem to be going terribly wrong both personally and professionally - of course some things are only imagined but the difficulty is there nevertheless  .
You seem to be lost totally and the only thing that seems we can do is wait for this time to pass.
Sometimes such rough patches also leave a bitter residue and we tend to think ,why should it happen to me, as if we are some special creature of God?
How do we deal in the midst of such situations so that we are able to cope and such that it does also leave a biiter residue afterwards.
Regards,
Anand.

Dear Ananda Sundaram,

The rough patches in life could be anything, say an accident due to
which you are bedridden for 6 months, or some diseases like typhoid
chikengunia and the rest which gives you pain even after the disease
is cured.  Then there could be financial loss [if you are in share market],
or loss of job and some intervening period where there is no job for you.
Or one's wife's sickness, parents' sickness, the children not studying
property.  There could be many many like this. During these periods,
one should not lose hope on Sri Bhagavan. Continue to pray to Him,
though you are not able to concentrate. At least have faith in Him, without
break.

Once the rough patches are cleared, thank Him and then please, please,
do not keep thinking about them. Thinking about a rough patch, which has
become now the past, is much more harmful.

During the time you are in the dark tunnel, and during the time that you
have come out of the tunnel, keep contemplating on Sri Bhagavan.
Think of His golden feet, think of his gazing powerful eyes. This is what
I had been doing when I had such rough patches.  No doubt your self
inquiry etc., will have a break during that period. But continue once you
are out of the woods.

Arunachala Siva.
