Kali Yuga and Bhagavan's views on the same
« on: August 29, 2011, 09:29:51 PM »
Dear colleagues,
Every other traditional person that we meet harps on how it is KaliYuga and how morality is receding and so on.
However Bhagavan 's own views on the same ,I think, was that mankind is gradually progressing towards higher levels of consciousness and ultimately will reach salvation.
These two different viewpoints seem to be mutually exclusive and irreconciliable .
I would like other's feedback on this in terms of what is the actual truth ?.
Regards,
Anand.

Dear Anand,

Sri Bhagavan explained everything only from Jnani's point of view.  For the Jnani there are
no time and space. He is ever present and eternal and unchanging.  So, He said, that kali
yuga, etc., are mental imaginations. If there is no mind, say at deep sleep, there is no time
and space. In deep  sleep, one does not know whether it is 11 PM or 2 AM. Similarly he does
not know whether he is sleeping in Bangalore or Tiruvannamalai.  Because in deep sleep,
where there is no mind, there is no time and space.  It all appears only in waking state, when
the mind operates.  A Jnani like Sri Bhagavan has no mind.

I have a problem with the Yuga theory.

Kali Yuga is supposed to have begun when Krishna died.
That was around 3102 BCE - Bronze Age.

Before were Dvapara Yuga from 867 102 BCE to 3102 BCE and Treta Yuga from 2 163 102 BCE to 867 102 BCE - Stone Age.

But Satya Yuga would have been from 3 891 102 BCE to 2 163 102 BCE - and part of that period is pre-Stone Age.

How can that be?

Dear Anand,

This yuga calculations are varying as there are varied experts. Kavyakanta
Ganapati Muni has said in one of his booklets, that the four yugas are only
for 10,000, 7,000, 5000 and 3000 years. No one can verify this. One
Swami KaNNu Pillai has said something on the same lines. No one
knows the correct position.
