What would happen if Arunachala were destroyed?
« on: June 02, 2011, 09:10:07 AM »
In our times large parts of nature are destroyed.
What would happen if anytime in the future some crazy government decides to sell Arunachala mountain to a company that removes the mountain and uses the material gained to build something?
In China the government built a monstrous dam that destroyed three gorges, so we can see what human are capable of doing in the hope to gain monay.

Dear Jyoti,

Arunachala can never be destroyed.  The world will be destroyed
before that. It is the axis of the world.  The other axix is in Pacchu
Mountains near Peru.  Both the axes will get dissolved only after the
world is totally annihilated.

I don't want to sound like a fundamentalist. But the greatness of Ramana Maharshi and the documented facts in Skanda Purana indicate that Arunachala can NEVER be destroyed. Following is a quote from Skanda Purana.

Most interestingly, even at the time of ‘Pralaya’ (Great Dissolution), the entire Universe was submerged in water and there was no trace of Earth visible, the Land of Arunachala was never even touched!

Dear Shivananda,

Yes. Yes. Even in cosmic dissolution, Arunachala, Tiruchuzhi and Sirkazhi and Chidambaram
will not be affected as per the respective Sthala Puranas.

Dear Jyoti, Friends,

The world is Not without You, similarly Arunachala Hill too is Not without You. Arunachala, Bhagavan has said, is the Heart!

When we close our eyes, where is the world and Arunachala Hill? During deep sleep where are the world, Arunachala Hill and all our loved ones? During deep sleep where is this question, about the destruction of Arunachala.

That which is Unreal is destroyed and That which ever is, is never destroyed.

Arunachala Hill will so long be different till we see it different from us.

Salutations to Bhagavan

I am new to the forum. When I read this question, I was shocked. What a question?

After a bit of relaxation, to think of Arunachala gives one Mukti. If such is the spiritual power of Arunachala, it would never be possible to even think of destroying it. Water finds its own levels. And Arunachala will correct every evil thought.

Dear trishul,

I appreciate your answer. The faith shall not only move the mountains but shall keep the mountains intact.
Only people of insufficient faith would have such thoughts.

If not already taken, some initiative should be taken for the entire area to bring under special laws/endowment laws etc. to make it permanently secure. Never believe human beings for they are self destructive.  Sorry, in no way I can contribute to this, as the topic came I just spoke out. Again, human tendency.

Dear Satyamang,

There is already an afforestation programme   jointly done by the Government and Non Government Agencies towards this
purpose.  They are doing planting of trees in large numbers, protecting the Hill from  vandals and other environmental hazards.
Government has appointed forest officers to look after the interior of the Hill-roads, to prevent cutting stones from the Hill or
cutting trees for fuel.
