Looking for expanded explanation.
« on: January 08, 2011, 07:15:23 PM »
Talk 50.
Sri Bhagavan read out, from the Prabuddha Bharata, Kabir’s saying
that all know that the drop merges into the ocean but few know that
the ocean merges into the drop. This is para bhakti, said he.

Could someone kindly elaborate?

Dear Adam,

My understanding is:

Brahman or God is all pervading, It is only there, in all places
[Like ocean]

At the same time, Brahman or God is also within me, in Heart.
[like a drop]

In Brahman or God which is everywhere and in Brahman or God which is within me, there is no difference.

All are Brahman, the One without a second.

  Dear Sri Adam,

Sri Subramanian Sir's explanation, in my view, is revealing. An indvidual (a drop), in essence, is of the nature of Brahman (ocean). When a drop merges into ocean, can one distinguish the drop from the ocean or the ocean from the drop ? All is ocean only. When individual consciousness, or limitted consciousness or the relative consciousness, merges with the Pure Consciouness, only One, Unitary, Absolute Consciousness remains. One is That. Therefore, on Realization,  individual cannot be distinguished from the Brahman nor Brahman can be distinguished from the individual. Only Reality is. A sage is Brahman

         Thank you,
             Anil

Dear Adam, Anil,

In one Upanishadic story, the guru shows the very small seed
of a banyan tree and says that 'this seed contains the large
Banyan tree.'  The disciple contemplates on this and attain satori!

Muruganar says:  How great is God or Brahman.  See this egg of a
peacock.  It contains like any other egg, white and yellow yoke.
But on hatching the peacock comes and grows into a beautiful
bird of multi coloured plumes and feathers!

Drop merging into ocean is similar to the soul attracted by god.  Ocean merging into the drop is like god attracted by the soul.  As the mind is purified by gnana it gets attracted by the infinite.  When the mind is purified by bhakthi it attracts the infinite.  Bhakthi is very powerful.

Dear S. Subramanian,

Very true.  Sri Bhagavan says in Sri Arunachala Akshara Mana Maalai, Verse 104:-

Let me be a loving servant of the devotees of those devotees who
hear your Name with love, O Arunachala.

Many hear his name.  A few utter his name.  Both are immensely
benefited by attaining Arunachala's feet.

Saint Manikkavachagar says in Yathirai Pathu, Tiruvachakam, Verse
7, Decad of Pilgrimage:

In this world which will not itself remain for long, let people remain.  We shall not remain here.  Let us go.  To the golden feet
of Siva, with golden form, he is our master.  Oh, those of you who
stand, do not delay and come with us quickly.  If you hesitate,
and stay back, he will become rare, our Master!

This is in essence the bhakti marga and sat sangh.  Bhakti is
very powerful.  You need not have to do it on your own.  Go with those who are proceeding to Siva-puram. Go with them hearing his name.  Any delay and hesitation will only cause you ruin.

Arunachala Siva.

Dear sirs,

So far we have mind we are living in dwaidham. When our mind sinks in our consiousness then we become advaidhi. Is not it?

When the mind desolves there is an expansion only. Man hood becomes Godhood. Whole world will be Thruannamalai and everone will be Ramana.
