Dear prasanth,

I am very happy that you are also remembering, like me, this
important day in Sri Bhagavan's life.

During the time, when He was in body, Sri Bhagavan, devotees
have said, used to show special shine in His face and body.  This
was called Jayanti gift.  On Mahadeepam days too, He used to
show special shine in His face and body and on those days, He
will be expressively happy and joyful, as if a child, waiting to
watch the light being lighted on the Hill.

I remember one another day, which devotees have recorded.
It was the golden jubilee day i.e. 50th anniversary of His advent,
i.e. 1st September 1946.  For that day, Sarvadhikari had arranged
for a special Souvenir and also speeches, songs, etc., in English
and Tamizh by other devotees.  A long list had been prepared for the events.  A devotee went to Sri Bhagavan and showed the list.
Sri Bhagavan said simply: Sari, sari, okay, okay.  The devotee expecting still happier comments asked Sri Bhagavan:  Bhagavan!
Do you not like any of these?  Or can you suggest something fresh?  Can you tell us?  Sri Bhagavan said in reply:  "If you ask
me, I shall only say, 'Why all these, summa iru, please be still.
But I know you will not listen to me!"

He is a unique Brahma Jnani.  He did not step out of T'malai
for 54 years.  His teaching is the same all through.  He never
recommended ochre robe for anyone.  He preferred internal renuniciation.  He never accepted gifts. All fruits and nuts that
were brought by devotees, were distributed then and there. He
never displayed siddhic powers.  In face, He pooh poohed siddhis. No garlands could be placed around His neck.  He never allowed
Pada Pujas.  He never touched money.  He never even wore slippers.

He was going up and down the Hill.  It was a Rasa Leela for
54 long years, between He and Arunachala.

Dear prasanth,

Very happy to see your post.  I also saw the videos in the Asramam
website under 131st Jayanti Celebrations.  The first one showed a
part of arti for Sri Ramaneswara Mahalingam.  The Lingam was adorned with golden gasket [which Muruganar sings as Punarvasu
Vannam in Sri Ramana Sannidhi Murai.  Sri Bhagavan was born immediately after Ardra had passed and Punarvasu was in.  While
Ardra is a reddish yellow star, Punarvasu is a golden yellow star.
Both are in Gemini Constellation.  Sri Bhagavan was also shining
like burnished gold, even though He was not very fair complexioned.] and flowers and Maha arti and Pancha Karupuram
were shown.  Ilayaraja who never misses the Jayanti Day sang
a brief song in praise of Sri Ramana.  Where he said, they say
a pair of eyes is sufficient to see You.  But even a crore of eyes
may not be sufficient.  The Eye of Jnana is necessary to see You, the Eye of Eye.  The videos brought me the remembrance of last Jayanti on 1.1.2010, which I and my wife had attended, when Smt. Kanakammal attained liberation in the Samadhi Hall of Sri Bhagavan.

Dear prasanth,

ILayaraja has sung only four lines, repeating the same several
times.  The song should be his own's poetry.

1. KaNak KaN irandum vendum, unnaik kaaNa KaN irandum vendum...

To see You, two eyes are needed, to see You two eyes are needed....

2. KaNak KaN kodi vendum enbar unnaik kaNa KaN kodi vendum...

Some say that one needs a crore of eyes to see You, a crore of
eyes are needed......

3. Unnai KaNadavar Jnana KaN koNdu KaNdaar, unnai KaNadavar
Jnana KaN koNdu kaNdaar...

But those whom have really seen You, have seen only with
the eyes of Jnana. Those who have really seen You, have seen
with the eyes of Jnana......

4.  Jnana KaNNam unnai kaaNa Jnana KaNNe vendum.
Jnana KaNNam unnai kaaNa Jnana KaNNe vendum.....

You are the Eye of Jnana.  Only the eye of Jnana alone is needed
to really see You. You are the Eye of Jnana.  Only the eye of Jnana
alone is needed to really see You......

I have given the very rough script of Ilayaraja's song and its meaning.  Sri Bhagavan is the Eye of Jnana.  One needs Eye
of Jnana to see Him really.

I meant to post this earlier, but have been busy with family, but I just read this description of jayanti days in "Living By The Words Of Bhagavan" by David Godman:

"When Bhagavan gave darshan on jayanti days.... For most of the day he would sit statue-like on his couch with his eyes open, but not focussed on anything in particular.
He would be so still that even his stomach and chest, which should have been gently rising and falling with his breathing, would show no signs of movement. Many devotees,
including myself, felt that he radiated more than the usual amount of power and grace on jayanti days. We all felt this power very strongly when Bhagavan sat transfixed in
these samadhi-like states."

Dear Om Hridayam,

Yes.  Sri Bhagavan used to stay with unusual glow on Jayanti
and Mahadeepam days.  He will shine like a mass of burnished
gold.  There will be a special but pleasant smell and heat, when
one goes near Him on those days.  He will hardly talk and simply
remain in that state of bliss.  T.K. Sundaresa Iyer and Sub Registrar Narayana Iyer have also said that this is Jayanti gift and Mahadeepam gift.

Today also, one can witness the special aura in the atmosphere
on Jayanti days.

Muruganar says that Brahman took the form of a Yaksha, a venerable elder, in order to demonstrate to a group of gods, whno
were glorying in a recent victory, that they had no power of their own.  Jataveda, the god of fire, Agni, was asked by the Yaksha
to ignite a piece of straw.  But he failed.  Similarly Vayu, Indra failed.  Finally the Yaksha who vanished was replaced by Uma, Siva's consort.  She said, when asked by other gods, He was
Brahman.  The gods understood that all their powers came from Brahman and had nothing of their own.  Sri Bhagavan also used
to sit like Brahman in a bodily form, that proved even the powers of Agni etc., were nothing when compared to His Power. He sat like Agni of Agni on Jayanti and Mahadeepam Days.
