Running

In a way, we are all running like this, but actually going no where -

We are not even able to put brakes, for if you do, then the world would move ahead of you!

Points to ponder -

- Most of what we are doing are actually not required at all for a simple peace
- If we do stop to think about why we are running, then our peers push us ahead saying don't stop
- Why not let the world run by and why not I relax

Dear Nagaraj,

Some one had a legend on his T-shirt:

"Please stop the world, I want to get down!"

Dear I,

Thats a wonderful quote, So true to our times.

We all would have heard about this small story, a person sees a bunch of people running fiercely, a perplexed person who watched the group run by asked them, "Where are you guys running to, like this?" and one of the persons who was running said, "I don't know, I saw them running and I also started running behind them!, Com you also join us!"  :o

A very basic question we need to ask ourselves is that are we able to live the teachings that we have read, re-read, mastered so far? Are we able to? Do we have a genuine peace of mind? without a pinch of doubt?

Dear Nagaraj,

We are all running.  Because we think by running a longer distance,
we shall achieve better results.  This is what is happening in all walks of life, from politics to cinema and even with bogus spirituality.

There is an old Russian story.  Once a rich landlord offered a person
to run a distance, so that all the land he runs and covers, will be
given to him.  The landlord said:  "You can run from sunrise to sunset! Come on!"  The man started running from sunrise.  He has covered enough lands even in two hours.  But he wants to run more and acquire more lands.  He runs, runs, runs, till sunset.
At the sunset, he stops and drops dead!

Saint Tayumanavar says in one of his songs:

Paripurana Anandam:-

There is no limit to desire, [of men]
Even if the whole world is conquered,
They would rush to conquer the oceans!
Even those who own gold like Kubera,
Will try to run around to learn rasa-vada*
Even those who have already lived long years,
Will try to run around to find out the place for Kayakalpa**
And harm their heart and mind.
If I think over, the days are spent in eating and sleeping.
Instead of saying Enough, blabbering, I, I,.. and
Leaving the one and searching for the second,
I drown in the ocean of pasam***
O the One who is everywhere, without any space left!
O, The Complete Bliss!
Please place me in the state of mind-less Peace!

(* alchemy - converting copper into gold with mercury through
some chemical means, in olden days.
** again a siddha preparation to live longer and longer with
   youthfulness.
*** the three impurities, malam, ego, karma, maya)
