Vendal - to ask
« on: August 23, 2010, 12:25:15 PM »
In this hymn, Muruganar says,

"I want to have the pleasure of worshiping Him, seeing Him, being always in the company of His devotees and hearing the devotees praise Him. O grant me this only: that I should worship you with great devotion and that you should grant me refuge saying, 'Fear not!' May I always abide at Your feet without any sense of duality , O Ramana, my father and mother, these are my prayers to You. In your Asramam may there be eternal puja. Long live Your fame, long live Your sweet words, long live Your sacred feet."

Salutations to Sri Ramana

Dear Nagaraj,

I do not remember this particular song of Muruganar.  It should be in Sri Ramana Sannidhi Murai.  But I am surprised that immediately
an almost identical song, from Saint Manikkavachagar in Tiruvachakam, Tiru Sadakam, Verse 100.

After all, Muruganar was  Manikkavachagar  for Sri Ramana-Siva.
Is it not?

Let me sing for ever; only You
should be sung by me; I should melt and wither and disappear, in
      ardent devotion;
I should dance, I should sing
Your anklet wearing feet in Chidambaram;
This lowly dog should merge with you, I should sing
For leaving this worm-ridden cocoon of my body! All lies
I should leave; I sing You, for your grace for
Deliverance; Oh, the Truth of the Truthful!

The Tamizh version starts as Pada vendum naan potRi ninnaiye....
(Tiruchadakam, 100.)

Arunachala Siva.
