The Chapter XI continues....

Verse 38:-  In the same way, the absence of all miseries is
directly experienced in deep sleep and since they are the oppsites
to bliss, their total absence is unhindered Bliss, which has to be
acceped as our own experience.

Verse 39:-  If sleep does not produce  an experience of bills,
why do people make so much efforts to procure soft beds etc.,?

(Bhagavan has also said, "We are making a lot of efforts to
have a soft bed to sleep.  We ensure that there are no wrinkles
in the bedspread, we go for soft pillows."  Hence sleep is
important to get bliss of the Self."  Nevertheless, Bhagavan
had no sleep, and He only closed His eyes for a period.  It was
wakeful sleep.  He has also said, that sleep is necessary for
the mind only, which can be had, by closing the eyes and keeping
the mind without thoughts.)

Verse 40:-  (Objection):  It is only to remove pain. (Reply):  That
is true, for the sick alone.  But since healthy people do so too,
it must be to obtain happiness.

Verse 41:-  (Objection): Then, the happiness in sleep is born
of objects due to the bed etc., (Reply):  It is true that the happiness
before going to sleep is due to  these accessories and not during
sleep.

To be contd....
