“D. Is it possible to enjoy Samadhi while busy in worldly work?

“M. The feeling ‘I work’ is the hindrance. Ask yourself ‘Who works?’ Remember who you are. Then the work will not bind you; it will go on automatically. Make no effort either to work or to renounce; your effort is the bondage.

What is destined to happen will happen. If you are destined not to work, work cannot be had even if you hunt for it; if you are destined to work, you will not be able to avoid it:You will be forced to engage yourself in it.So, leave it to the Higher Power; you cannot renounce or retain as you choose.”

Samadhi or for that matter, Sahaja Nirvikalpa Samadhi, is only
a totally egoless state, where there is no doership and enjoyership.
In that state, even if one works, the work will go on without these
two.  Bhagavan Ramana lived for 54 years in that state only.  But
He did work.  He used to get up at 2 am and cut vegetables and even start the fire for working.  He used to stroll in the Hill at least for sometime.  He was doing cirumambulation almost every day
for many years.  All these are possible.  Bhagavan Ramana uses
a simile [though in a different context] of a person whose mind is
somewhere but he is sitting at the discourse and listening to the
story of Bhagavatar.  Like that when Brahmajnani is in Self abidance, work will still go on and that too in a perfect manner.

Arunachala Siva.
