Maha Puja - 06.06.2010 - 4
« on: June 06, 2010, 03:37:35 PM »

Mother Azhagamma came to Tiruvannamalai to see Bhagavan Ramana in all, four times.
On the first occasion, Bhagavan Ramana did not even speak to her.  On persuasion, He
took a pencil and paper and wrote the famous lines:  "Everything happens according to
the Will of God.  Whatever has not to be happen, will not happen, however much you
try.  Whatever has to be happen, will happen even with your efforts.  So, it is better
to remain as silent."   These words are nothing but expression of total surrender.
Whereas for Kavyakanta Ganapati Muni, He said:  "Find out the source at which the
sounds of mantras get absorbed."    This is an expression of self enquiry in a nutshell.

Bhagavan Ramana has always insisted on only these two ways throughout His life
for liberation.  Both are in a way, the same thing.  They are like two sides of the same
coin.  For most of us, it may appear as if total surrender is easier.  No.  It is as difficult as
self enquiry.  But total surrender is possible for the beginners.  For advanced seekers,
they may find self enquiry is possible, once they surrendered themselves to the Guru.

Mother Azhagamma came to live with Bhagavan permanently only during her fourth
visit.  At that point of time, she had no one else for support.  Nagaswami had passed
away.  Nagasundaram, Chinnaswami, the Sarvadhikari later, lost his wife and the only
child was left with sister Alamelu and had come to Bhagavan.  The Tiruchuzhi house
was sold out to pay off the debts.  So Azhagamma became really support-less and her
illustrious son came to her help, not only in life, but also later in her liberation.

The total surrender does not come easily also. When people get total failure it takes place. So having failure is also in one way blessings.

Dear Ramanaduli,

Very much Yes.  When Draupadi's saree was being disrobed, she
first called her husbands.  No one could do any help.  Then she
called Krishna, even here, she held her one hand on the saree,
hiding her breasts.  When she raised both her hands and called
for Govinda, in utter desolation, despair and helplessness, Krishna
came handy.  The saree started growing endlessly.

Even to desire or to practice surrender is not in our hands. It is only by His grace alone can we surrender even! and when that happens we will not know anything about total surrendering or Sharanagathi or etc..

The only desire we can have, Bhagavan says is to desire for abiding as Self.

Even to desire Surrendering is but a Satvic desire of our Ego!! It is only the Ego that is trying to surrender... The very idea of trying to surrender itself is to be overcome.... and only by the grace of Guru, it is possible.

Remain quietly in the Self.
