ULLadu Narpadu - 134
« on: May 26, 2010, 09:34:16 AM »

Muruganar covers in some more verses in Guru Vachaka Kovai,
the meaning and purport of the Verse 22 of ULLadu Narpadu:

Verse 400:  When a forest is on fire, the creatures living in it,
unable to bear the heat, come running out in a [vain] attempt
to save their lives.  Similarly, unable to bear the growing intensity
of the thought of the Self, all the vasanas, will rise from the
Heart and die completely.

Verse 402:  Mind, the veiling, has stolen away the Self, the consciousness-light of unlimited supreme bliss.  When its form
is destroyed by thoroughly enquiring "Who am I?", it will shine
illustriously as the supreme space of Swarupam.

Verse 403:  Just as a ball of iron heated in a fire glows as a mass
of fire by virtue of that heating process, when the Jiva that is
polluted [by the three defilements] is heated in the purifying fire
of Atma Vichara, it will shine as Atma Swarupam itself.

[The three defilements are the ego, karma and maya]

Bhagavan Ramana in Sri Ramana Gita, 9.19:-

Just as a ball of iron heated by fire appears as a ball of fire,
likewise all this, burnt in the fire of self enquiry, becomes full
of the Self.

Verse 406: By contact with the philosopher's stone, the self-
enquiry performed unflaggingly everyday in a systematic way,
the Jiva, whose form is the ghost-like ego, will shines as Siva
Swarupam, Pure Consciousness, losing the verdigris, which is the mind-defilement, the ghost nature.

Arunachala Siva.
